Why Jessica Biel Is 'Committed' To Staying Married to Justin Timberlake After His DWI Arrest
Jessica Biel isn’t going anywhere. That appears to be the 42-year-old actress’ stance after her husband, Justin Timberlake, was arrested in June for driving while intoxicated in Sag Harbor, New York. Sure, it was an embarrassing incident for her family, but Biel is sticking with her man through thick and through thin.
According to a People source, Timberlake is working on himself and has “done everything he can” to “make up for” his lack of judgment after getting behind the wheel of his car after a night out with his friends. The 43-year-old musician’s way of apologizing to his wife is to “focus on family time when they’re off.” Their schedules are busy, but their priorities remain with their young sons, Silas, 9, and Phineas, 4.
“They’ve been married for a long time,” the insider continued. “They have to work on their marriage like most couples. Being working parents is never easy.” While Biel was forgiving of Timberlake’s major mistake this time around, she was “not happy about” his arrest — she’s “relieved” the worst is behind them. Any divorce chatter appears to be false because “they are both committed to staying married” because they make “a great team.”
That united front might disappoint some of Biel’s friends who reportedly had strong thoughts about their marriage. “Behind the scenes, Jessica’s friends have talked to her about his behavior — they hate that so much of her life is about keeping Justin on track when he’s drinking and partying with friends,” an In Touch Weekly source said in early October.
His DWI arrest hasn’t been the only scandal since they married. In 2019, Timberlake had an entanglement with his Palmer co-star, Alisha Wainwright, that was caught on video during a drunken night out in New Orleans. And of course, there are his past issues with Janet Jackson and Britney Spears that he’s had to apologize for over the years.
Biel isn’t going to pretend that her marriage is perfect, though. She discussed her union to Timberlake on The View in May ahead of his arrest, “It’s always a work in progress, right? It’s constantly trying to find the balance, trying to find the time.” This will probably be a year the dynamic duo would rather forget as they look ahead to 2025 and better times in their partnership.
