Elon Musk donates $75 million to support Trump’s 2024 election campaign
Elon Musk, the owner of X/Twitter and Tesla and the world’s richest person, has recently contributed nearly $75 million to Donald Trump’s election campaign. These contributions were made through a political action committee (PAC) over the past three months of this year.
The PAC had previously spent more than $96 million supporting Trump and around $10 million assisting Republicans in the congressional elections.
Musk, who once supported Democrats, recently described the 2024 election as “the last hope for U.S. democracy” and warned of the consequences if Trump does not succeed.
Musk’s shift toward right-wing politics and his criticisms of President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris have drawn considerable attention.
Additionally, Musk is reportedly seeking to hire workers in key battleground states to support Trump’s victory. He has promised that if Trump wins, he will be appointed to lead a commission to review government spending.
This dramatic change in Musk’s political alignment has raised questions about his motives and the growing influence of wealthy individuals in U.S. politics.
His deep involvement in Trump’s campaign reflects broader concerns about the role of billionaires in shaping the future of democracy, especially when leveraging vast financial resources to influence electoral outcomes.
The 2024 U.S. presidential election is scheduled for Tuesday, November 5, 2024. The winner will assume power for a four-year term.
