EastEnders fans beg bosses to axe ‘hypocritical’ character
EASTENDERS viewers have begged show bosses to axe a ‘hypocritical’ character.
The character in question has been an Albert Square mainstay for over a decade.
Irritated EastEnders viewers called for Jack Branning to be axed[/caption] Viewers called out Jack for his “hypocritical” behaviour[/caption] It comes as Jack and Denise have experienced marital problems[/caption]Jack Branning – played by Scott Maslen – first appeared on the BBC soap in 2007.
Despite Jack’s longevity, some fans are calling for him to be axed.
They highlighted “hypocritical” behaviour concerning stepdaughter Chelsea Fox (Zaraah Abrahams).
Tuesday’s episode saw Chelsea admit to being responsible for the club crush at Peggy’s earlier this year.
It saw Jack’s daughter Amy (Ellie Dadd) end up badly injured, including suffering a broken pelvis.
His other daughter Penny (Kitty Castledine), the manager at Peggy’s, received the blame.
The likes of Jack, Denzel (Jaden Ladenga) and Penny were left unimpressed as Chelsea confessed.
Jack told her: “You’re going to go down to that station and you’re going to make a statement of everything you’ve done.”
On X, fans were surprised by Jack’s behaviour – considering he helped Denise (Diane Parish) and The Six cover up Keanu Taylor’s (Danny Walters) murder.
Taking to X, one person wrote: “Jack and Denise trying to take the moral high ground over Chelsea – have they forgotten they’re up to their necks in a murder cover-up.”
Another added: “I wish they would get rid of Jack he’s so grumpy and unpleasant.”
A third added: “Denise: Attempted manslaughter, accessory to murder, perverting the course of justice etc.
“Jack: Bent copper, put his daughter in a wheelchair, perverting the course of justice etc.
“Penny: Drug smuggling, theft, gross negligence etc.
Most complained about soap storylines
Over the years, all three of the main soaps have featured plots that have had even die-hard fans reaching for their phones and laptops so they can get in touch with Ofcom and complain. Here are just some of the most scandalous…
“The audacity of this lot.”
As a fourth chimed in: “You’re forgetting, Denise, Jack also knows about Keanu.”
Yet another remarked: “Please get rid of jack branning.”
EastEnders airs on BBC One and is available on iPlayer.
