Darryl Strawberry, Robin Ventura and Matt Harvey Throwing Out First Pitches
Ahead of their home games in the NLCS, the Mets have announced their ceremonial first pitches.
On Wednesday, legends of the World Series-wining 1986 team will grace the field, as Darryl Strawberry will throw the pitch out to Doc Gooden. On Thursday, Robin Ventura will throw out the first pitch to Edgardo Alfonzo. And on Friday, two key members of the 2015 team will be on the field, as Matt Harvey will throw out the first pitch to Yoenis Cespedes.

The organization is pulling out all of the stops for the Mets’ first NLCS appearance since 2015.
They are still holding their block party before and after the game, which will start at 4:30 on Wednesday and Thursday and begin at 1:30 on Friday. Gates to Citi Field will open at 5:30 p.m. ET on Wednesday and Thursday. Gates to Citi Field will open at 2:30 p.m. ET on Friday.
They are introducing a new drink called the “Playoff Pumpkin,” which includes Sailor Jerry Spiced Rum, Ginger Ale, and Pumpkin Spice Syrup with an Orange Wheel. Another new drink will be the Blue Rally Punch, which includes Reyka vodka, lemonade, and blue curacao served with an orange wheel in an exclusive baseball souvenir cup.
The coolest aspect, though, is the legends returning for each game. It is a great way to celebrate the different eras of Mets’ success and greatness. Having 1986 legends like Strawberry and 2015 heroes like Harvey and Cespedes is made more special as the Mets try to capture a National League title.
By all accounts, the Mets have already nailed the atmosphere portion of the NLCS. Now, they must execute on the field to perfect the environment.
