Dem can't help but laugh at Republican's 'nutty' defense of Trump as the 'father of IVF'
A former staffer for Vice President Kamala Harris couldn't help but laugh on CNN as a Republican consultant tried to defend former President Donald Trump's comment that he's the "father of IVF," referring to the assisted reproductive technology in vitro fertilization.
Kaitlan Collins, host of "The Source" read off Trump's quote to her panel on Tuesday night, which is set to air on Fox News.
In response to a question from a voter, Trump said, "I'm the father of IVF, so I want to hear this question."
"We really are the party for IVF," he said. "We want fertilization and it's all the way. And the Democrats tried to attack us on it and we're out there on IVF, even more so than them. So we're totally in favor."
In response, Shermichael Singleton, who has worked on campaigns for Republicans Newt Gingrich, Mitt Romney and Ben Carson, told Collins it was a "good pivot."

"Father of IVF?" Collins pointedly asked, prompting fellow Democratic panelist Jamal Simmons to chuckle.
Singleton insisted that if his party is going to claim it believes in families, it should support "every aspect of what it takes to create a family." In reality, millions of people struggle to conceive naturally.
"To support those types of programs, I think that's in sync with conservatism," he said. "We're about the family. I think the former president is on the right track here. He should have done it a long time ago."
Notably, earlier this year, a s legal decision in Alabama causeservices in the state. The state Supreme Court ruled in February that frozen embryos created through the procedure should be considered "unborn children" for the purposes of civil liability.
The case was not lost on Collins or Simmons, who again couldn't help but laugh.
"I know you've got a tough brief here Shermichael but that's really kind of nutty," said Simmons, still laughing.
