Sunday in Oregon: Possibly last warm weekend of 2024
PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- This is the third straight weekend with above-normal temperatures and plenty of sunshine from the Oregon Coast to the Cascades -- and another day filled with sunshine and warm temperatures is on the way Sunday as an area of high pressure holds over the Pacific Northwest.
The low clouds and fog along the coast will break apart as the day moves along. Some high clouds will also pass by from time to time, but it will remain dry in the Willamette Valley. High temperatures along the coast should top out in the 60s, while in the valley temperatures will top out in the mid- to upper-70s under light wind.
The first half of your upcoming work week looks pleasant, with seasonable temperatures as the ridge of high pressure continues to hold in place. However, by mid-week, a deep trough of low pressure will slide down over the Pacific Northwest from the British Columbia coastline bringing with it much cooler temperatures and increasing rain.
Wednesday and Thursday look wet and cool with high temperatures barely reaching 60°, which is quite a bit below normal for this time of the year in Portland. Cool wet weather will stick around for the second half of the week.
But until then, get outside and enjoy this beautiful early fall weather. This may just be the last warm weekend of the year, as the fall rains are likely to set in for the second half of the month.
