I went to the Aldi toy event to buy items to sell on Vinted for double the price – trolls call me vile but I don’t care
A WOMAN has revealed that she went to the Aldi wooden toy event, not only to buy items for her child, but to also nab bits to sell on Vinted for a profit too.
Atlanta Hatch, a 25-year-old mum from the UK, confessed that she sold items for double the price on the marketplace app, and as a result, has been called ‘vile’ by trolls.
The savvy mum claimed that she went to her local Aldi store the night before the event started and was able to nab a trolley load of goodies.
The event, which started on Thursday 10th October and sold out within minutes, saw shoppers race to nab limited edition toys, mostly made from wood.
Not only did Atlanta give some as presents to friends and keep some for her child, but she was also able to cash in a hefty profit too.
But people have been left totally divided by the mother’s claims – and whilst some didn’t see an issue, others described her actions as ‘shameful’ and ‘disgusting’.
Posting on social media, Atlanta said: “So this is gonna be quite controversial, but I did go to the Aldi wooden toy event and I did buy to resell.”
Atlanta claimed that whilst she had the intention of selling items on for a profit, not everything she bought was to resell, as she did nab some “genuine presents” too.
She explained that she was lucky enough to nab a beauty tool belt, three activity boards, a slow cooker, a biscuit tin, and a doughnut set, amongst a variety of other cheap buys.
The mother confessed that when she arrived at Aldi and saw the wooden toys, she called her friends to ask what they wanted.
Not only did she nab items for her pals, but she also claimed that she also knows “at least three other mums that did buy to resell”, as she stated: “It isn’t just me and to be honest, I stand by that I do it.”
Atlanta explained that a TikTok clip was made about her Vinted page, slamming her for re-selling the Aldi buys, to which she continued: “On Vinted, I got nearly 100 messages about how vile I am, I’m being reported to HMRC, literally any word you can think of, I was called it yesterday when I listed on Vinted.”
Not only did she flog items on Vinted, but she also listed the wooden toys on eBay too.
She then explained that she resold two wooden cakes for £16 each and the slow cooker at £20, as she admitted: “Yes, they were double, but they weren’t extreme prices.”
Revealing her “reasoning” for re-selling, Atlanta explained that if she didn’t do it, someone else would, so why shouldn’t she be able to benefit from it.
Whilst parents have slammed Atlanta for buying items that others wanted to get for Christmas presents, she explained that she needs the extra money for her child, who has autism.
She highlighted: “I could do with the extra money for a pushchair or the sensory items that neurotypical children also can have, but my child would need them more. I don’t see the issue with it.”

“I hope Vinted removes them.”
A third commented: “Yet people like me who genuinely want some of these toys for my twins Christmas but literally very little left!”
Despite this, at the same time, one mother wrote: “I rate this, get your bread girl.
“Honestly there are people out there actually doing bad things not like trying to make a bit of extra money.”
Whilst a second agreed: “I haven’t done it with toys but I made so much money reselling to fund my maternity leave!
“If people aren’t paying your bills it’s not their business how you make money.”
