Cheapest place to buy a squeegee this week to banish condensation – it’s not Dunelm or Tesco

SQUEEGEES are a great way of getting rid of condensation without spending much – here is the cheapest place to buy one this week.

Condensation is caused by warm, moist air coming into contact with a cooler surface and is more common over the colder months.

Condensation can lead to mould which can have ruinous affects on your health[/caption]

Left alone to become mildew and mould, it can seriously affect your health.

However, one easy way to get rid of condensation without breaking the bank is with a squeegee.

These handheld tools usually come with a flat rubber lip which you can use to scrape off any moisture from a surface like a window.

But where is the best place to buy one this week? Well, it turns out from our research, B&M.

Of course, make sure you do your own research as you might find a cheaper alternative to us.

Websites like Price Spy let you search the internet for a range of products, filtering from the cheapest to most expensive.

You can try having a quick scan of the internet using Google‘s Shopping/Product tab as well.

Always read product reviews too so you know what you are getting for your money.

B&M – 50p

B&M is selling this squeegee for just 50p[/caption]

B&M has slashed the price of its clear squeegee from £1.48 to 50p – a 66% discount.

The discounter’s website says stock is running low though so you’ll have to be quick.

Remember, B&M doesn’t offer a delivery service so you’ll have to check your nearest branch to see if they have any in stock.

You can find your nearest branch by using the retailer’s store locator tool on its website – you just have to enter your postcode.

Dunelm – 80p

Dunelm is selling a squeegee for just 80p and you can click and collect from your local store for free.

Dunelm also has a store locator tool on its website where you can find your nearest branch.

Helpfully, Dunelm’s squeegee comes with a loop handle so you can hang it in your bathroom or elsewhere when not in use.

Ikea – £1

Ikea shoppers can snap up this squeegee for just £1 – it comes with plenty of five star reviews on the Swedish retailer’s website too.

Shoppers looking to buy one can pick it up via click and collect for free from their local store.

You can find your nearest branch by using the retailer’s store locator tool.

You could also get the squeegee delivered but it may not be worth it with fees starting from £5.

Tesco – £1

The Tesco squeegee comes with a handy hole in the handle so you can hang it up[/caption]

Tesco is also selling a squeegee for just £1, which comes with a non-slip handle and is ergonomically designed.

Again, it comes with solid reviews so you are getting your money’s worth.

But, bear in mind if you do want to click and collect one of these from your local Tesco store, which you can find using its online store locator tool, you will have to pay a £2 fee.

There is also a minimum order fee of £25.

Homebase – £2

Homebase’s squeegee costs a bit more than the others, coming in at £2[/caption]

Those with a bit more in the bank can pick up Homebase‘s squeegee, which comes with a soft grip handle, for £2.

There is also a small hole in the handle meaning you can hang it up after you’ve used it.

Click and collect is free from your nearest Homebase branch, which you can find using the retailer’s store locator tool on its website.

Sainsbury’s – £2.75

Sainsbury’s squeegee is on sale for £2.75 and comes with a flexible rubber lip.

If your basket ends up worth over £40, you can click and collect from your nearest branch from the next day for free. Otherwise, you’ll have to fork out £4.

You can find your nearest Sainsbury’s store by using the retailer’s store locator tool on its website.

Other cheap ways to get rid of condensation

One way of keeping condensation at bay is by drying clothes outside.

It can be tempting to hang your washing inside during winter, but all the moisture from your clothes will escape into the air.

If you do have to dry your clothes inside, try doing in a closed room with the window open to minimise any cold air spreading throughout your home.

If you’ve not got the money for a dehumidifier, you can buy moisture tabs that work similarly for as little as £6 from Screwfix.

And making sure your home is insulated is another major step you can take towards battling condensation and mould in your home.

You might be able to get it for free too via the Great British Insulation Scheme.

How can I remove mould if it's already there?

There are several easy and low-cost ways to remove mould from your home.

Bleach is usually all you need if you neither own nor want to buy specialised cleaning sprays and paints.

If using bleach, mix four parts of water with one part of bleach.

You’ll also need a stiff brush, a bucket of water with cloth, and another cloth for drying.

Apply your solution to the affected areas, including a few inches around the visible mould to kill any mould not yet visible.

Scrub it firmly with a strong brush.

Wait as long as possible or until the mould disappears from sight and rinse the treated areas thoroughly.

Pat dry the area and allow it to completely dry before moving any furniture or placing items in front of it
