‘Best jeans I’ve owned’ mums rave over Tu by Sainsbury’s wide-legged pair that get ‘so many compliments’ & cost just £22
SAINSBURY’S shoppers heaped on the praise for the brand’s TU wide-legged jeans.
Mums shared rave reviews for the stylish trousers, which they labelled “the most comfortable” pair they’ve ever owned.
In a post on Mumsnet, one user shared the struggle she was having finding a pair of affordable jeans.
“I’m trying to find some wide legged jeans. I’ve fallen in love with these from Me&Em but they are so expensive,” she wrote.
She asked her fellow mums if they had come across “anything similar for a less eye-watering price.”
While her post received dozens of comments, a clear favourite emerged.
The £22 Dark Wash Ultra Wide-Leg Denim Jeans from Tu by Sainsbury’s received countless mentions in the comments section.
“These are wide and very inexpensive from Tu,” wrote one Sainsbury’s shopper.
“They are very nice quality for the price.”
When the original poster shared her concern that the jeans would be too low waist, other buyers were quick to reassure her.
“I’ve got those Tu ones and they’re high waisted, on me at least. They’re really nice actually,” said one woman.
“I got mine from Tu by Sainsbury’s, [they’re] high waisted and possibly the most comfortable jeans I’ve ever worn,” wrote another Mumsnet user.
“I’ve just got these last week and I am in love!” said a recent Tu convert.
“They are so comfortable and true to size. [They’re] a bargain for jeans.”
Another woman proved to be a long-time fan of the brand, revealing that she has “lived in £18 Tu ones for years.”
Tu shoppers also shared their thoughts on the wide-leg look in the review section of the site.
The jeans received an almost perfect rating of 4.8 stars out of five, with 97% of shoppers saying they would recommend them.

If there is one item of clothing that is never easy to buy it’s jeans.
If you think you’ve got your size nailed after finding the perfect fit, nine times out of ten when you next come to buying a pair you will most likely still have to try before you buy.
But what is it about jeans that makes them such a difficult fit?
Well there isn’t a universal size guide that every retailer sticks to, so this means that one brands size 12 could be an inch or so different to another brands and that can make all the difference.
Plus, it’s all about the denim, some jeans are made with stiffer denim that don’t give them as much give.
Whereas some stretchier denims obviously have more stretch which means they can be more forgiving.
However, don’t forget that all denim does eventually stretch, so when you’re trying jeans on and they feel ever so slightly tight, remember that they will actually give after wearing them.
So sadly this does mean the best piece of advice is to just try them on, however if you are short of time or can’t be bothered then the Japanese jean test I have found works quite effectively.
Wrap the waistband of the jeans around your neck, if they can wrap all the way round and don’t leave a gap then they should fit your waist.

“[They’re] so soft but actually look and feel like jeans, super flattering, more colours please!”
Another shopper said the Tu buy were the “best jeans I’ve ever owned.”
“I ordered them, I tried them on, I wore them – that has never happened during a long history of buying jeans. Will be buying a stock load!” she said.
“I’m so glad these are back, great fit, great length, super comfortable,” commented a third buyer.
“Love these, they are super comfy and the denim feels so soft and lightweight,” wrote another commenter.
“I love these jeans the denim is soft and they sit perfectly not too high waisted but they keep everything together,” said one woman.
“I always find the perfect pair of jeans at Tu and these don’t disappoint!” commented another fan.
“I’ve already worn them for a night out and they are perfect! Such a flattering fit on a pear-shaped lady!”
The wide-leg jeans are available in sizes eight through 22, in short, regular, and long.

If a brand offers both Fit Analytics and a size chart, check both for a clearer picture of what size to order.
Don’t forget that while buying jeans online may be just a click of a button, if they don’t fit you, you’ll have the less convenient problem of having to return them. And some brands, including Zara, only offer free returns to store.
Some brands ask for measurements in inches, and others in centimetres – so make a note of both! Your waist measurement
is the smallest part of your torso, usually just above your belly button, and your hip measurement is the widest point of your hips.
Measure yourself every time you need to buy a new pair of jeans – think of it like getting a new bra. Your weight can often fluctuate, so what you were six months ago may not be what you are now.
