Hibernian Community Foundation Reveal New Hub
Easter Road played host to a network of supporters at the soft opening for its recently renovated Community Hub, hosted by Hibernian Community Foundation.
The 2024 Hibernian Community Foundation Supporters’ Reception was attended by connections from the range of services provided by HCF, with attendees from Ron Gordon’s Extra Time, Team United, Walking Football, New Scots service initiatives and more.
“It’s a great opportunity to get supporters from all aspects of the Foundation in one room”, said Daljit Singh, HCF Director.
“It’s our way of saying thank you and showing them all we’ve done, while also hinting at what’s to come. Having this new space is going to be such a great help for us in hosting our activities, so it was great to showcase it, if only on a micro level.”
Joining the supporters at the reception were Hibernian Football Club Manager David Gray, Captain Joe Newell, Sporting Director Malky Mackay, and CEO Ben Kensell.
Gray and Newell aided on the night by handing out gifts to HCF Community Football participants from the Extra Time, Hibs Heroes, and walking football programmes.
“It always helps to have the support of the Football Club at these events, strengthening the ties between the club and the foundation,” said Steven Smith, HCF Board Chair, who opened the night with a welcome speech.
“Our participants do so well and in some instances over come so much adversity, so for them to meet David Gray and Joe Newell is something they’ll never forget.”
In the coming weeks the new Community Hub will formally open, providing a warm and welcoming space for all members of the community to be fed, mingle, and join in community activities. A large improvement on the former space, HCF are looking forward to welcoming as many as possible to the area in Easter Road’s Famous Five stand.
The night was rounded out by a rendition of the Proclaimers’ Sunshine on Leith by the Hibernian Community Foundation Community Choir, joined by supporters in true Hibs spirit.
