Bears CB Tyrique Stevenson doubtful for Jaguars game after hurting his calf in practice
WARE, England — Bears cornerback Tyrique Stevenson is doubtful for Sunday’s game against the Jaguars after hurting his calf during practice Thursday and not practicing Friday.
His loss is a big blow to a Bears defense that is already without safety Jaquan Brisker, who was left home Monday after reporting concussion symptoms hours before the team’s flight to England.
Stevenson has been solid this season as teams continue to throw to the opposite side of the field of standout Jaylon Johnson. He was named NFC Defensive Player of the Week after returning an interception for a game-winning touchdown in Game 1.
Jaylon Jones, Stevenson’s backup, is Pro Football Focus’ top-graded cornerback, with a major caveat: he’s only played nine snaps.
The Bears also ruled guard Teven Jenkins as questionable for Sunday after hurting his ankle against the Panthers.
Jenkins didn’t practice Thursday and was limited Friday. Eberflus sounded hopeful about Jenkins' status for Sunday, though, saying he looked good Friday.
