Surprise new Apple gadgets expected in time for Christmas – but best bit is iPhone freebie coming to millions

APPLE could be weeks or even days away from unveiling brand new gadgets.

But there’s an even more exciting freebie coming to millions of iPhones very soon too.

In September, Apple showed off its new 2024 smartphone line-up.

That included the iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, and iPhone 16 Pro Max.

Apple also debuted the Apple Watch Series 10 plus some new AirPods 4 – but iPad and Mac products were notably absent.

The tech giant is rumoured to be preparing new gadgets for imminent launch, and an industry insider has told The Sun exactly what to expert.

NEW APPLE GADGETS

The Sun spoke to tech expert Paolo Pescatore, who said that the gadgets could land just in time for the Christmas shopping season.

“We have become accustomed to always expect the unexpected and nothing should be ruled out,” said Paolo, industry analyst at PP Foresight.

“There’s a vast array of revamped and new products that Apple could unveil, launch ahead of the key holiday season.”

According to Paolo, we shouldn’t expect new iPhone models.

Instead, Apple is likely to focus on rolling out new Mac and iPad devices.

“Looking at last year’s releases it is probably fair to expect new Macs powered by its latest and greatest M4 chip,” Paolo said.

“This should be across the portfolio from the Mini, Pros as well iMac.

“The bulk of news is likely to come from this category.

“Sure, there are rumours of other devices such as a revamped iPad mini which arguably could have been announced earlier in the year (with a dedicated iPad Let Loose event).

“Ultimately at the core will be Apple’s push into AI thanks to Apple Intelligence.”

Apple hasn’t announced a new iPad Mini since September 2021, so a fresh model would be a big win for fans of the downsized tablet.

But any launches are likely to focus heavily on Mac products, according to Paolo.

The only real question is: when?

If Apple is hosting an event, we’d usually find out about a week in advance.

But if the gadgets are just being quietly announce on Apple’s website, there would usually be no warning.

Apple has previously used October to unveil new products, although a reveal could end up falling very close to the end of the month.

APPLE FREEBIE INCOMING!

If you’re not planning on buying any new gadgets for Christmas, your existing ones are getting an upgrade.

That’s because Apple is expected to roll out the new iOS 18.1 upgrade for your iPhone very soon.

It’ll make a whole host of changes to your iPhone.

But the big improvement is the addition of new Apple Intelligence features powered by AI.

That includes an enhanced version of Siri that lets you chat more naturally, as well as writing tools that rewrite or summarise text.

You’ll get new notification summaries, plus suggested replies in Messages.

There’s a new Clean Up feature for removing objects or people from photos – and an option to create video Memories in Photos just by typing out a description of what you want.

A Focus Mode named Reduce Interruptions will only show you important notifications.

And there will be transcription summaries available for phone call recordings that you’ve made.

While any iPhone with iOS 18 will be able to upgrade to iOS 18.1, Apple Intelligence features are only supported on select devices.

They include:

• iPhone 16
• iPhone 16 Plus
• iPhone 16 Pro
• iPhone 16 Pro Max

Apple hasn’t revealed exactly when iOS 18.1 will land.

But the company did confirm that it would arrive in October, so you should have it by Halloween.
