I can make £80 an hour ‘working’ in Tesco & clearing the shelves for cash – I’m accused of ‘keeping poor people poor’
A MAN has defended himself after being accused of “keeping poor people poor” thanks to his shelf-clearing antics at Tesco.
Everyone loves finding a clearance section in the supermarket, but for Ben, aka Resell Republic, finding one packed with bargains means an epic payday.
He took to TikTok to explain how his buying in Tesco and selling through his Amazon FBA company means he can make “over £80 an hour working in Tesco”.
The video showed Ben heading straight to the clearance section, and spotted some Hawaiian Tropic Mineral Protective Sun lotion.
“I’ve seen it before, but it was a little bit pricier in this Tesco, so it was only 67 pence profit,” he said, showing himself scanning the product with an app to see the profit he would make.
While he decided to leave that one, he saw the Hawaiian Tropic Mineral Facial Milk right next to it, and scanned that one, at which point it showed he would make £2.20 profit per unit.
“It’s £2.20 profit per unit, 36 units,” he said.
“I took every single one that’s just under £80 profit for literally a few seconds.”
Continuing to share his tips, Ben explained that he never takes the haul to the till.
Instead, he uses the self scanner, so that he can scan all 36 bottles on his own.
“We got them in the bag to the car,” he said.
“All we have to do now is send them into Amazon.
“They’ll deal with the rest, and we just watch the sales roll in!”
People were quick to comment on the video, with one writing: “Or just let peeps get them for the clearance price?”
“Do I look like a charity to you?” Ben replied.
“So that’s why the newborn formula is all gone sometimes. Thanks Pal!” another commented.
With Ben hitting back: “If you gotta rely on clearance shelves to feed your baby then maybe you shouldn’t have had one.”

What is retail arbitrage and how does it work?
Retail arbitrage just means reselling a product on for profit.
It is completely legal in the UK, as, once you own an item, you have the right to resell it.
Using an app called BuyBotGo, resellers scan items they find in the supermarket, and the app tells them how much the products are selling for on Amazon, and how many times they have been sold in the past month.
The reseller will make a profit on the items by reselling them using Amazon FBA.
Amazon FBA is a service that online sellers can use, where Amazon takes care of the storing, packing and shipping of your products.
So all the reseller has to do is send the products off to Amazon and wait for the money to roll in.
“£80 an hour!! Wow.. so you do this every working hour every working day?” another asked.
“No cause I ain’t slaving away for peanuts like you,” Ben replied.
“Nice idea. But a bit misleading. The profit is not real profit,” someone else wrote.
“It’s potential profit. Also, you did not mention your overheads. Fuel, labour and postage costs have to be deducted.”
“You didn’t make 80 quid an hour – you delboyed a load of sale s**te,” another raged.
