I was divorced & penniless at 22 & could only afford one meal a day… now I’m a multi-millionaire & make other women rich
THERE is no better way to move on after a break up than showing an ex what he’s missing.
And Savannah Jordan, 27, certainly did that when her post-divorce transformation saw her go from eating one meal a day to save money, to creating her own marketing empire.
Savannah was just 18 years old when she founded her first business with her dad called See Jane Go, which she describes as “essentially Uber for women.”
The ride-sharing service employed only female drivers and catered to only female customers with the intention of making the experience a safer one.
After eventually selling on the business, Savannah found herself working in the medical sales field.
She made the move to the marketing industry but soon saw her hours slashed due to the pandemic.
When she got divorced at the age of 22, she could barely afford the rent.
“[I was] eating one meal a day so I could literally feed my dog,” Savannah explains.
However within just three years, she was able to move out of her “tiny little studio apartment” thanks to her next business venture.
Savannah used her previous business and sales experience and launched her own freelance marketing agency.
Channeling her past successes in various industries helped her to guide other companies to do the same.
And so the WLF Creative Agency was born.
Since it’s inception in 2020, the company has created multiple seven-figures in revenue, grown to a team of ten women, and served hundreds of brands.
Savannah credits the mentorship she received with helping the success of her business.
She also advised any budding entrepreneurs to prioritise strategy, energy, consistency, and production when first starting out.
The CEO emphasised the planning that went into creating her multi-million dollar company.
Do I need to pay tax on my side hustle income?
MANY people feeling strapped for cash are boosting their bank balance with a side hustle.
The good news is, there are plenty of simple ways to earn some additional income – but you need to know the rules.
When you’re employed the company you work for takes the tax from your earnings and pays HMRC so you don’t have to.
But anyone earning extra cash, for example from selling things online or dog walking, may have to do it themselves.
Stephen Moor, head of employment at law firm Ashfords, said: “Caution should be taken if you’re earning an additional income, as this is likely to be taxable.
“The side hustle could be treated as taxable trading income, which can include providing services or selling products.”
You can make a gross income of up to £1,000 a year tax-free via the trading allowance, but over this and you’ll usually need to pay tax.
Stephen added: “You need to register for a self-assessment at HMRC to ensure you are paying the correct amount of tax.
“The applicable tax bands and the amount of tax you need to pay will depend on your income.”
If you fail to file a tax return you could end up with a surprise bill from HMRC later on asking you to pay the tax you owe – plus extra fees on top.
“What we have done is pretty major but it was also not by accident,” she says.
“We were very intentional about how we grew the business, we were very intentional about what it is that we were doing, the strategies we were using.
“[We were] essentially treating our business like a marketing and sales machine.”
Savannah has also developed her own personal brand through her social media presence.
She uses her platform to share her “marketing girl next door” tips to achieve success.
