‘Completely unfair’ rage Strictly fans as ‘wrong person’ goes home after tense dance off
STRICTLY Come Dancing fans have raged at the results, saying it was ‘completely unfair’ that Toyah Willcox went home, after the tense dance off.
Toyah, 66, and her dance partner Neil Jones, 42, were sent home during last night’s results show, just a week after she was saved in favour of Olympic swimmer Tom, 24.
They’d gone up against Paul Merson, 56, and Karen Hauer, 42, who had Cha-Chaed.
But their Samba to Poor Unfortunate Souls from The Little Mermaid didn’t manage to keep them in the competition.
Now, some Strictly fans are saying that the wrong person went home and that actually Nick Knowles should’ve been booted off.
DIY SOS star Nick, 62, injured himself after falling when he did a jump during a dress rehearsal – leaving him on crutches.
As a result, the TV star was forced to pull out of Strictly for the weekend just gone.
One person wrote: “Unpopular opinion but I’d rather people would just pull out in these situations over seeing someone else get eliminated when they’re on a bye.”
A second wrote: “I really hate the idea of getting a “bye”. Even if it’s someone who is good that needs it, very unfair to everyone who is able to compete to be up for elimination against someone who wasn’t even able to perform. That’s a practice I wish Strictly would stop.”
A third said: “Unfair that Toyah went home and not Nick given he didn’t even take part.”
It is the second injury to blight Nick on Strictly after he injured his shoulder and arm while changing a car tyre.
A spokesperson for Strictly said: “Unfortunately, Nick Knowles sustained an injury during rehearsals and as a result, will not dance this weekend.
“As per the rules of the competition, Nick and Luba will receive a bye through to next week when he is hopefully able to dance again. Everyone at Strictly Come Dancing wishes Nick a speedy recovery.”
Nick and Luba had been due to dance the Charleston to Rain on the Roof from Paddington 2.
The Sun first told how Nick had injured himself at the start of the competition while changing a car tyre.
He was put under medical supervision and assessed during rehearsals.
A source said at the time: “If after the rehearsal the doctor thinks Nick is going to make his injury worse then he’ll be off Strictly for good.
“It really is the last chance saloon for Nick.
“The BBC are putting his health above everything.
“If the doctor thinks Nick is at risk of hurting himself then his Strictly dream will be over.
“Nick is being really positive as he thinks he will be fine but his welfare and health has to come first.”
He was handed a last minute reprieve and allowed to dance.
Nick impressed the judges with his American Smooth to Blur’s Parklife and scored 22.
