Watch security guard’s frustrated reaction after Novak Djokovic disobeys orders upon arrival at Shanghai Masters
NOVAK DJOKOVIC disobeyed his own security to the amusement of adoring tennis fans in China.
The 24-time Grand Slam champion, 37, is competing in the Shanghai Masters after five years away from the event.
He has been receiving huge adulation from fans in China, with Djokovic labelling the support “remarkable”.
But as he made his way through the entrance of the Shanghai Masters, one of his security guards attempted to quieten the tennis crowd down.
The security man could be heard saying: “Alright, hey, shush. Be quiet.”
Hilariously, Djokovic responded by whipping up the crowd behind him as he threw his arms up in an excitable manner.
The Serbian then proceeded to sign autographs, before he urged for more noise yet again.
This led to the security guard playfully pushing the tennis legend as Djokovic laughed at the hilarity of the situation.
Djokovic has won the Shanghai Masters a record four times – the last of which came back in 2018.
His five years away from the tournament only seem to have increased the enthusiasm of his fan base – something he is incredibly grateful for.

He said: “You mentioned the fact that I haven’t been here five years, and I think that brings me extra motivation, particularly because of the love and support that I’ve been getting today and all these days here in Shanghai.
“It’s just remarkable. I’m very grateful to all the fans waiting in front of hotel, practice court here.
“I mean, I’ve been coming to China for so many years, but I don’t think I’ve ever experienced this, this level, this intensity of support.
“It’s just something that I’m very, how can I say, blessed with it, you know, very privileged to be in the position to be supported and followed by many people.
“China loves tennis, and as a tennis player, being part of a big event like Shanghai Masters is amazing, particularly this year.”
Djokovic beat American Alex Michelsen 7-6 (3) 7-6 (9) to reach the third round where he will face either Italian Fabio Cobolli or three-time Grand Slam champion Stan Wawrinka.
He won Olympic gold in Paris this summer but failed to win a Grand Slam in the 2024 season – coming closest at Wimbledon where he lost in the final to Carlos Alcaraz.
It is the first time since 2017 that he has gone a whole year without a Slam title.
