Police look into fatal Albany pedestrian auto accident
ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10)-- Albany Police are investigating a fatal pedestrian auto accident on Krumkill Road. Police said the driver stopped when the accident occurred Sunday morning and has cooperated with police.
The accident happened around 6:55 a.m. for a report of a person being hit by a car. Police said Jason Steinberg, 50, of Herkimer, sustained severe injuries and was pronounced dead on the scene.
Police said a preliminary investigation found Steinberg was walking on the sidewalk when the vehicle crossed the westbound lane, onto the sidewalk, and hit Steinberg. The investigation is ongoing and will stay with NEWS10 as more information becomes available.
