Huge Brit pop star in talks to headline Glastonbury for first time in eight years

HE last headlined at Glastonbury in 2017 – but now I hear Ed Sheeran could be ready to grace the iconic Pyramid Stage with his presence once again.

I’m told that festival organiser Emily Eavis has approached the Shivers superstar to perform at Worthy Farm next year, before the event takes a break for a fallow year to rest the Somerset farmland.

Ed could headline on the Friday night, before continuing his European tour in Germany on the following two evenings.

A source said: “Ed adores performing at Glastonbury and getting to sing to so many fans on a massive scale.

“He hasn’t got any big UK gigs lined up next summer, so this would be really special.

“He’s got loads of celebrity friends, so he is bound to have some famous collabs on stage with him if it comes off.”

Speaking previously to the Glastonbury Free Press, the festival’s resident newspaper, Emily said: “We’re taking a fallow year in 2026 to give the land a rest.

“And the festival before a fallow year is always a fun one to plan because you almost have to fit two years into one.”

It seems that Ed, whose spokesman declined to comment, will go to any lengths to make his fans happy.

Earlier this year, he handed out pies at his beloved Ipswich Town before heading to Belgrade in Serbia for a gig.

The singer left the Portman Road football stadium at half-time before jetting over to Europe.

In 2017, speaking on Glastonbury’s Pyramid Stage, he said: “I would like to say it was a dream of mine.

“But I never thought I would even get to the point where I was playing this stage, let alone headlining it.”

With Harry Styles also in talks to make an appearance — and Cher discussing playing the Legends slot on the Sunday — it looks set to be a stellar year. 

OASIS HALF A WORLD AWAY

OASIS will head Down Under next year for their Live 25 tour.

The Half The World Away rockers teased dates for the Australian leg of their tour on Instagram yesterday.

Billboards have popped up of Noel and Liam Gallagher alongside the statement: “Australia: It’s your shout!

“Tuesday 8AM AEDT (Australian Eastern Daylight Time).”

The dates will mark 20 years since the band last played Australia, with their Don’t Believe The Truth tour.

Meanwhile, Liam seemed to hint on X that Richard Ashcroft will be their support act.

He wrote: “We never set sail without the one and only Ricardo, he’s our boy from day dot. Come aboard Rkid.”

Richard was the inspiration behind their 1995 song Cast No Shadow.

Noel previously said: “He always seemed to me that he was not entirely happy with the things that were happening around him.

“So the lyrics ‘bound with all the weight of all the words he tried to say’ was ’cos I always felt that he’d been born in the wrong place at the wrong time, and always tried to say the right things, but they went wrong.

“When I first sang the song to him he was near tears.”

Looks like the reunion could get quite emotional.

ASHLEY AND LOU ARE LIO GRANDE

ASHLEY ROBERTS and Lou Teasdale turned up the heat as they stepped out in the cold for Lio London’s winter reopening.

Former Pussycat Dolls singer Ashley wore a skimpy outfit with a snake dangling from the front, while Lou posed in a tiny brown leathery co-ord at the central London club.

Jack Whitehall’s other half Roxy Horner was also among the guests, in a jewelled little black dress.

Celebrity hair stylist Lou is dating former West Ham and England striker Andy Carroll.

We reported last week that he had split from his wife, ex-Towie star Billi Mucklow.

Lou has been spotted with Andy in Bordeaux, where he now plays.

She split from SAS: Who Dares Wins’ JAY MORTON last year.

FRED’S A DATING MAGNET

FIRST DATES’ Maitre d’ Fred Sirieix is constantly asked out during filming for the Channel 4 romancing show, he reveals.

The French frontman for the show, whose fiancée is affectionately known as Fruitcake, said: “People make passes at you and they are very blunt.

“They say, ‘Yeah I like you Fred, do you want to go for a drink?’ It happens all the time but it is OK – God loves a trier.”

Fred, who is part of Auto Trader’s “new car fragrance” campaign, also said he has started to adopt British manners after living in the UK for 32 years.

He said: “I was walking up the Champs-Élysées and somebody bumped into me and instinctively I turned around and said, ‘Oops sorry’.”

JUNGLE EXTRA IS BACK

AS I’m A Celebrity gets ready to return to the Australian jungle next month, I can reveal the spin-off show is back after four years.

A source told me: “There is a huge buzz around I’m A Celeb this year and everyone wants the mischief of Extra Camp to return as well.

“It is believed there will be a different show name as it makes a comeback with lots of names in the mix to host.

“And it looks like there will be a few presenters as well to add to the fun of the show.”

A show spokeswoman said: “Since Extra Camp came off air four years ago, the conversation and engagement around I’m A Celebrity . . . Get Me Out Of Here! continues to grow across all social media platforms.

“This new ITV2 companion show will bring together all those conversations in one place – to give viewers the ultimate destination for all of their news, gossip and behind-the-scenes fun around TV’s biggest entertainment show.”

SABRINA THE ICE MAIDEN

A VERY chilled out Sabrina Carpenter sits in a bath of ice cubes during her Short n’ Sweet Tour.

The Nonsense hitmaker is on the American leg of the sell-out run following the release of her sixth studio album.

Sabrina has been wowing fans in a range of crystal-encrusted lingerie while performing her track Taste – which has spent six weeks at No1 in the UK singles charts.

It comes after the US singer was revealed as the cover star for the Time100 Next 2024 list, which recognises emerging leaders shaping the future.

It sure looks like Sabrina has the world at her feet.

CAUGHT OUT LIVE

Sea Girls O2 Academy Brixton

INDIE rockers Sea Girls brought an unmistakable injection of energy to their performance in South London.

They opened the set at the O2 Academy in Brixton on Friday with Midnight Butterflies – the title track of their third album – as confetti burst into the crowd.

Frontman Henry Camamile stood silhouetted in a cloud of blue smoke during their hot new track Superman as the audience sang every line.

The quartet were later joined on stage by new band Daydreamers for a spirited rendition of Does Only God Know That We’re Lonely.

But just when it seemed like the show was coming to an end, Henry gave in to the crowd’s pleas to play three more songs.

What followed was an encore that included a surprisingly raucous cover of Shaboozey’s track A Bar Song (Tipsy).

I can only hope they got merry themselves after such a successful gig.

AMANDA’S VARIETY OF STYLES

AMANDA HOLDEN is already planning show-stopping costumes for hosting duties at the Royal Variety Performance next month with Alan Carr.

She told me at the launch of the Baylis & Harding Christmas collection at boutique hotel The Columbia, in London: “I’m so excited about hosting the show.

“There’s a lot of meetings. Fingers crossed it will be funny.

“I would like lots of costume changes but I think I will limited, as we will be on a tight schedule.

“Alan and I always have a laugh together, but we are looking at focusing on high-jinks comedy.

“Being with a friend will be so much better than doing it solo, especially as Alan has already hosted it.”

The Britain’s Got Talent judge also said how proud she was of daughter Lexi modelling in London Fashion Week at designer Tran Hung’s show.
