Indonesia’s Ketut Permata Juliastrid is Miss Cosmo 2024
MANILA, Philippines – Ketut Permata Juliastrid of Indonesia was crowned the first-ever Miss Cosmo 2024 on Saturday, October 5, at the Saigon Riverside Park in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
Miss Cosmo 2024 is the international pageant’s inaugural edition. Juliastrid bested 55 other contestants vying for the crown.
The top 2 contestants, Ketut Permata Juliastrid of Indonesia and Karnruethai Tassabut of Thailand, went head-to-head in a rebuttal round. Each of them presented their action plans showcasing their commitment to the advocacy of impactful beauty, and was given the chance to ask each other one rebuttal question.
Miss Indonesia said she would teach local artisans to create traditional crafts using plastic waste. Each product would have a QR code where the buyer would be able to trace the journey of that piece of plastic they helped recycle by purchasing the product.
Meanwhile, Miss Thailand spoke about raising awareness on reducing waste so that the Earth could still have usable soil. She said that people must gather knowledge on the matter by themselves first and then spread it to those around them. She also said she would create a campaign where she would teach farmers about it herself.
On coronation night, the contestants were judged by a panel consisting of former Miss Universe president Paula Shugart; Miss Cosmo Vietnam 2017 H’Hen Nie; Miss Supranational 2022 2nd runner-up Nguyen Huynh Kim Duyen; Miss Universe 2021 Harnaaz Sandhu; KC Global Media Entertainment CEO George Chien; and former deputy minister of foreign affairs and former ambassador of Vietnam to the US Pham Quang Vinh.
The Philippines’ Ahtisa Manalo finished in the top 10 of the pageant after being named the overall winner of the Cosmo People’s Choice Award. She was also named Miss Cosmo Tourism Ambassador. – Rappler.com
