Our streets are full of supercars worth £1.2MILLION driven by Premier League stars & celebs…it’s like living in showroom

RESIDENTS in a posh village say their High Street is crammed with so many expensive supercars it looks like a car showroom.

Alderley Edge is part of Cheshire’s ‘Golden Triangle’ – an affluent area of small towns and villages which also includes Wilmslow and Prestbury.

Luxury vehicles like the Ferrari F40 – with around £1.2million – are a common sight in Alderley.

Set in glorious countryside, the area is known for its expensive homes, high-end shops and upmarket bars and restaurants.

It is popular with wealthy Premier League footballers and celebrities, and has earned a reputation as a millionaire’s playground and a place to see and be seen.

London Road, running through the centre of Alderley Edge, is frequently lined with millions of pounds worth of Lamborghinis, Ferraris and Bugattis as well as luxury 4X4s and other cars.

Resident Martin Wroe, 42, says the upmarket lifestyle is a big draw.

“It’s a good place to live but a lot of people come here from outside the area because they like the village and aspire to be part of the scene,” he said.

“There’s lot of nice places to go out and eat but some of the house prices are over-the-top – a house worth £600,000 in Macclesfield will cost £1.5m here.

“It’s quite common to see lots of supercars and 4x4s parked up – there’s always kids taking pictures of them.

“Many of them belong to footballers, and I once saw Bruce Fernandez getting out of his car.”

He added that a friend had spotted reality star Molly-Mae Hague “getting her hair done” in Wilmslow last week.

Maria Caunce, 47, who lives “in the countryside” in nearby Chelford, also said luxury cars were so commonplace “that kids come to photograph them all the time”, but they didn’t all belong to footballers.

“There’s lots of different people living here and everyone is really friendly,” she said.

“Some people work hard so they can buy their fancy cars.

“I know the area has a certain image, but I don’t see myself as a typical Cheshire housewife.”

But she added that her 10-year-old son’s school was “full” of the children of Premier League stars.

In Prestbury, where a bottle of wine or champagne in a restaurant can cost up to £750, Manchester City’s Kyle Walker and TV star Paddy McGuinness can often be spotted.

John Read, assistant manager of the Legh Arms, said both had recently visited to enjoy some pub grub.

“Paddy came in a couple of months back with his family for a Sunday roast,” he said.

“He liked it so much he posted photos on Instagram.”

John, 44, said he often spotted a “lot of fast cars” in the village and said people “enjoyed spending money” in the bars and restaurants.

One variety of rosé wine – costing £50 a bottle – has proved particularly popular with pub-goers.

“I used to work at different pub outside the area and people would never have paid those sort of prices,” Josh said.

Simon Dunphy, 50, who manages The Coast restaurant over the road, said many locals – not just footballers – owned expensive cars.

“There are a lot of professionals in the area, doctors, dentists and so on.

“But I see a lot of Burnley and Manchester City players, including Kyle Walker.

“Kyle is a nice guy and is very much part of the community.

“Round here the footballers are just the locals and although there are lot of flash cars a lot of them are also owned by other people.

“The most expensive Ferrari belongs to a Scouser who lives here.”

Simon added: “Some nights the footballers will be in the nearby Foxhole bar rubbing shoulders with older ladies and other villagers.

“It’s that kind of place.”

We live in UK's 'poshest' area where corner shop drinks cost FOUR THOUSAND pounds

By Freya Parsons

RESIDENTS living in the UK’s ‘poshest’ place rub shoulders with celebrities and royals – while the local corner shop sells wine for over £4,000.

On average, flats around Battersea Power Station, in South West London, cost a whopping £1.2million – but those that can afford it may get a view of TV adventurer Bear Grylls doing pull ups on the roof.

The Wild Weekends star reportedly knocked three properties into one to build a staggering £20 million mega-apartment.

And locals boast of spotting other famous faces – including singer Sting – every day following a £9 billion transformation of the area.

Power station worker Kasea told the Sun she works for a number of the world’s richest – but was remaining otherwise tight-lipped.

She said: “I can’t tell you who I work for but it’s someone pretty famous but there are a lot of famous people who live here, especially in the power station.

“I even see one of them every single day. I also see Bear Grylls, and Sting.

“I’m lucky to work around people who are really from the first pages, even the Queen‘s family as well.”

Kasea described spotting Grylls, 50 – who lives with wife Knight and their three kids – getting sweaty above his luxury abode.

She said: “Yesterday he was doing pull ups on the roof, which I could see really clearly.”

Meanwhile, the pull of the area means even those who have since moved away keep coming back.

Taking full advantage of the wealthy clientele is The Battersea General Store, with MD Raj Bathia claiming he has even served world leaders.

The 46-year-old’s pride and joy is his curated wine selection, which brought a glitter to his eyes when asked about it.

And why not – some of it’s priced up at £4,250 a bottle.

Going into his expert spiel, Raj explained: “You’ve got to swirl it. Let it open, it’s been in a bottle. It’s compressed, it’s been in there tight.

“Give it a chance to breathe at least. Literally, let it breathe. Then you swirl it, you enjoy it. Smell it. Give anything a bit of attention and you’ll start to see it in a beautiful way.”

He went on to explain he sees famous people “on a daily basis because a lot live here”.

“And then you have a lot that come and visit us specially,” he continued.
