Homeless man shot 2x in the head dies in Queens NYCHA complex: sources
EDGEMERE, Queens (PIX11) --- A homeless man died after he was shot twice in the head in a Queens NYCHA complex on Thursday night, according to police and sources.
Authorities found the 59-year-old victim on his side with multiple gunshot wounds to the head in the second-floor apartment at the Ocean Bay Apartments on Beach 54th Street in Edgemere at around 11:15 p.m., according to the NYPD.
The man died at the scene, police said.
The victim would sometimes stay at the friend's apartment in the NYCHA complex, according to sources. The friend and roommate are not suspects in the incident.
It was unclear what prompted the violence.
The suspect is believed to be a heavy-set man wearing a black shirt, police said. There have been no arrests and the investigation is ongoing.
