Ekpiteta Confident Ahead of Motherwell Clash
Hibernian defender Marvin Ekpiteta is growing in confidence after his start to life at Hibs.
The strong central defender has played every minute of our William Hill Premiership campaign to date – and admits, after a tricky start, he is beginning to show the best version of himself.
“It has been a big change”, Marvin told Hibs TV.
“I didn’t think it would be that much of a change, so I have had to adapt my game. But I feel like I have grown into it after the first couple of games and I am really enjoying it now.
“The work rate of every team is the main change, nobody gives you any time on the ball – they are on it for the whole game and that is the biggest change from last season for me.
“Everyone can beat everyone in this league, it is so hard to predict. It is definitely different compared to down south. In England, a lot of the smaller teams sit off the bigger teams – but here, everyone just goes for it.”
We come into this one off the back of a narrow defeat to Rangers, but despite the result, Ekpiteta insists the team are building in the right direction and the results will come.
“Against Rangers we played really well, and I feel like we should’ve got something from the game. Before that, we beat St Johnstone – so it would be nice to back up a good performance last week with three points on Saturday.
“Those performances have helped the boys massively and given us a big boost. The squad is getting stronger now and there is good competition for places.
“This is a big opportunity for us to get three points, we have played well at home recently – we had a decent game against Dundee which we should’ve seen out, we beat St Johnstone last time, so we are going into the game with confidence.”
