Flight attendants share what REALLY happens when they catch folk trying to join the mile high club
CATCHING someone doing the dirty is mortifying for every party involved.
But flight attendants seem to be more at risk with fliers frequently trying to join the mile high club.
Passionate passengers try to spice up flights in many different ways – from getting frisky in their seats or scrambling to the bathroom for a quickie.
But now flight attendants are sharing when they caught people in the act – and what they really do when they see it.
A curious Reddit user asked: “Flight attendants, do you generally know when a couple is joining the mile high club? How often does it happen and how do you handle it?”
One ex-flight attendant, who claims to have worked for Australian airline Qantas, said on larger planes it was harder to spot any sex taking place.
It was also trickier to spot in first class as people could have privacy and beds to lie down on – which has caused issues in the past.
They recalled: “The one experience I’ll probably never forget is on a flight from Australia to Vietnam, a young couple were very frisky with one another since the beginning of the trip. Turns out it was their honey moon trip.
“Well some of the flight attendants decided to give the newly weds a basket full of goodies that we all put together. We included goods that are usually reserved for the flight staff (pre-packed cakes, beers, junk food and other sundries).
“Anyway, Debbie goes down to their row with this nice basket with all the goods in it, and we’re all watching from the flight attendant service/wait area, big smiles on our faces.
“She reaches their row (at the far end, pretty much at the back), she turns to them, jumps, says something to them, bows a couple of times and walks briskly back towards the rest of us.”
Turns out the couple were up to no good and they were all in hysterics over the situation.
They added: “Good ole Deb said her brain short circuited and all she managed to say was, ‘Oh! Lovely penis, sir. This is a gift on behalf of the staff for you and your wife, thanksbyeee’.”
Another ex-flight attendant revealed on Reddit that they were very unlikely to put a stop to it so long as it wasn’t too obvious.
They revealed: ” I could see that the blanket was moving rhythmically up and down.
Why do people join the mile high club?

So, what makes public sex so alluring? According to Jessica Leoni, leading sex and relationships expert at IllicitEncounters.com, it’s all about the rush.
“People are drawn to public sex for the sheer excitement and adrenaline,” Leoni explains. “The fear of getting caught heightens the experience, making it more thrilling and memorable. For some, the forbidden nature of it adds an extra layer of intensity.”
She adds, “There’s also something about the environment that feels detached from reality. When people are outside their usual routine, especially on holiday or business trips, they’re more likely to act on impulses they might suppress at home.”
While these escapades might sound thrilling, they don’t come without serious risk. Getting caught in public can result in more than just embarrassment – though having sex outdoors isn’t explicitly illegal in all cases, various laws could lead to an arrest. Yet for some, the gamble only adds to the thrill.
“So I did what any self respecting flight attendant would do and told the other crew to have a look too. We all had a peek and then burst out into fits of giggles in the aft galley,” they continued.
One flight attendant also admitted to turning a blind eye so long as couples were quick about it.
They said: “I generally don’t care enough to do anything about it as long as they’re discreet and don’t stay in there for a year. If you’re going to do it, make it snappy. Other people need to wee.
“I’ve had people ask me if they could go to the lav together… I just tell them no because I don’t want to be implicated in any of that. I think you can get into far more trouble fooling around in your seat area.”
But they did warn that planes weren’t as clean as they looked – especially the bathrooms so warned people it might not be worth it.
