Samsung Galaxy AI comes to lower-priced S24 FE models
MANILA, Philippines – Samsung’s Galaxy AI features, which debuted in the brand’s flagship S24 phones earlier in January, now come to the line’s upper-midrange variant, the S24 FE.
Like the base S24, the S24 FE will have the following AI-enabled features:
- Generative Edit – for object removal in photos, or filling in empty spaces within a photo that appear when readjusting size or orientation
- Portrait Studio – allows users to turn selfies into cartoon, comics, watercolor, or sketch version
- Reflection removal
- AI-assisted slow-motion generation for videos
- Circle-to-Search – allows users to search using elements appearing on their screen
- Live translation
- Message assist features – lets users adjust message tone
- AI-enabled transcription
The S24 FE starts at P39,990 for the 128GB version, and comes in 256GB (P44,990) and 512GB (P53,990) variants as well. The base S24 launched with a starting price of P53,990 for the 256GB model.
The FE version features a Samsung Exynos 2400e chipset, which is a slightly slower-clocked version of the Exynos 2400 found in the base S24, according to a report on Android Authority.
Citing Samsung, the site reports that the difference is a miniscule 0.1 GHz (3.2GHz vs 3.1GHz), which largely means that there is no discernible difference in real-world use between the two. This also bodes well for the performance of AI features being brought to the FE from the base model.
The S24 FE is not the first FE phone to receive AI features. That title belongs to the S23 FE, which received the AI features a few months after the S24 launch.
While the S23 FE may be the cheapest gateway to Galaxy AI, currently priced at P34,990, the phone uses an older generation Exynos 2200 chip. This means it might not be as efficient in running the AI features like the S24 FE, if these new tools are of prime importance to you.
Other phone models touting a similar set of AI features is OPPO with its Reno12 series (P34,990) and Honor with its 200 model (P24,990).
Galaxy AI is currently not available for its midrange models, the Galaxy A35 (P18,990) or A55 phones (P24,990), although the brand told Rappler in July that it’s looking into it.
Here are the rest of the specs of the phone:
