Pedro Mendes predicts Man United vs Tottenham as he looks for revenge on Red Devils
Pedro Mendes’ prediction for Tottenham’s clash against Manchester United this Sunday will please Spurs fans.
Season-defining test for Spurs?
So far this season, there has been a general acceptance that Tottenham have not got the results their performances have deserved.
Ange Postecoglou’s men certainly showed against Brentford just how difficult they can be to stop when they play to their full potential.
However, with the Lilywhites having picked up just one point on the road so far this season, another defeat at Old Trafford would set alarm bells ringing once more.
Mendes is optimistic about Sunday
Man Utd have had a poor start to the season, having won just two of their opening five games, and have looked an extremely disjointed side.
Mendes believes that Spurs are capable of delivering a fantastic performance and emerging with all three points from Old Trafford.
When asked to predict the result, the former Tottenham midfielder told BoyleSport: “I think Spurs will win 2-1…Spurs, they are a team that can pull a fantastic performance out of the blue…Also Man United is a little bit inconsistent.”
Mendes’ ghost goal at Old Trafford
Mendes does not have pleasant memories of this fixture as Spurs fans of a certain age will remember the goal that wasn’t for the Lilywhites back in 2005.
The Portuguese star’s long-range shot was infamously spilt by United goalkeeper Roy Carrol in that clash 15 years ago and replays showed the ball had clearly crossed the line.
However, the officials, who were not armed with goal-line technology or VAR at the time, did not give the goal.
