PlayStation suddenly drops September State of Play with more than 20 upcoming games
THE 30th anniversary of the original PlayStation console is fast approaching, and Sony has been showering fans with announcements.
Firstly, there was the reveal of the PS5 Pro, which promises Graphics Mode’s visual quality at Performance Mode’s framerate.
However, the price stunned players as the upcoming console will cost £700/$700 before you purchase the disc drive and vertical stand.
PlayStation fans quickly forgot about it as Sony announced a new range of PSOne-themed consoles and accessories soon afterwards.
Sony has even more good news for PlayStation fans as there will be a new State of Play showcase featuring over 20 upcoming PS5 games.
The showcase will run for around 30 minutes, so we expect some announcements to whizz by.
PlayStation’s September State of Play will take place on Tuesday, September 24, 2024, from 3pm PT, so here’s what that means for your timezone:

- 11pm BST (UK time)

- 12am CEST (Central Europe)

If you’re not going to be around to watch the State of Play live, you can catch the video afterwards on PlayStation’s Official YouTube channel.
Those who can catch it live have a choice between watching on YouTube, or checking out the PlayStation Twitch channel.
What people most want to know is which games will be shown at the event, and PlayStation hasn’t revealed any specifics.
However, there are rumours that Horizon Zero Dawn and Days Gone remasters are in the works, and PlayStation could take the opportunity to show them off on the PS5 Pro.
We also expect new footage from a few games we already know about like Monster Hunter Wilds, and the soon-to-be-released Until Dawn.
As Death Stranding 2 will get a 90-minute showcase at Tokyo Game Show, there’s a high likelihood it shows up during the State of Play too.
There are also rumours that Resident Evil 9 will be announced, but Capcom already has another big-name game in development, so we think this is less likely.
We already know that Astro Bot has free DLC coming before the end of the year, so the State of Play could give us more details.
With more than 20 games for the PS5 and PS VR2, there’s more than enough time for a few surprise announcements.
