Nicosia provides possible dates for trilateral meeting
Cyprus has provided three possible dates in October for a trilateral meeting on the Cyprus problem.
According to the Cyprus News Agency, the office of the UN secretary-general, in the context of exploring the possibility of a trilateral meeting in the recent months, has requested and received from the permanent mission of Cyprus to the UN possible dates for a meeting.
Nicosia proposed three possible dates in October for a meeting between the UN and the two sides in Cyprus, sources told CNA on Monday.
According to the same information, the first date given to the UN by the Greek Cypriot side is in mid-October and the other two in the last week of the same month.
Moreover, Athens is optimistic about convening a trilateral meeting at UN headquarters, a senior Greek government source said, adding that “there is cautious optimism for the resumption of the Cyprus talks.”
Kyriakos Mitsotakis is expected to meet with Τurkish President Tayyip Erdogan on Tuesday at 6.40pm (Cyprus time), where among other things the Cyprus problem will be discussed.
“The Greek side always discusses the Cyprus issue with Turkey and at this particular juncture the issue will be raised by Greece at the meeting”, a senior Greek government source added.
