Player has no future at Spurs despite Postecoglou naming him on the bench
GiveMeSport reveal that Sergio Reguilon does not have a future at Tottenham despite Ange Postecoglou’s decision to name him on the bench for the clash against Coventry City.
Sergio Reguilon is likely to leave in 2025
Reguilon is into the final year of his contract at Spurs, and it came as a surprise to many when the left-back stayed put at the club beyond the summer window.
It came as an even bigger surprise when the 27-year-old was subsequently included in the club’s Premier League squad and even made the matchday squad for Tottenham’s EFL Cup third-round clash last week.
GiveMeSport say that despite Reguilon’s inclusion in the squad, there is ‘little chance’ of him getting game time this season or remaining at the club for too long.
Postecoglou does not see Reguilon as part of Spurs plans
The outlet says that the defender has a ‘long way to go’ before he comes even remotely close to being a serious part of the first-team set-up.
Although Reguilon has been training with the first-team squad at Hotspur Way, it is revealed that Postecoglou does not see him as a part of his plans.
The publication adds that the former Real Madrid man has no future at N17 beyond the end of his current contract. It remains to be seen whether he leaves Spurs in January or for free next summer.
Spurs Web Opinion
Reguilon has only been included in the squad as an emergency backup and will likely not play a minute of football unless there is an injury crisis. One would expect the Spaniard to be off in January.
At this point, Spurs probably won’t be able to get a fee for him. I expect them to find a loan in January to see out his final 6 months before leaving on a free.
