Match Preview: Queen’s Park vs Ayr United
Championship Football returns to Hampden on Saturday when Queen’s Park host Ayr United.
The sides met twice at The National Stadium last season and neither game is a fond memory for fans of the Black and White Glasgow side. The first meeting 12 months ago ended in a 5-2 win for The Honest Men with Queen’s goals coming from Ruari Paton and Barry Hepburn.
January saw a much-improved performance from QP, in what was Callum Davidson’s first home game in charge, however the harsh sending off of Sean Welsh, a minute after Paton had nodded in an equaliser. hindered the hosts and Ayr scored a late winner.
Away days last season were much more fun with Paton sending home an injury time equaliser in a 2-2 autumn draw with Queen’s Park winning 2-1 in March with full details of that game included underneath.
Members of the Queen’s Park Media Team met up with Callum Davidson and Roddy MacGregor to discuss the game and playing again at Hampden.
Callum covered:
· Goals to chances ratio against Morton
· Mature defending
· Away performance against Ayr last season
· Ayr being amongst the early pace setters
· Being back at The National Stadium
· Importance of supporters
· Unique injuries
