Watch: Tim Walz gives car maintenance tips — then launches attack on Project 2025
Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, the Democratic candidate for vice president, is out with a new video that simultaneously offers advice for how to work on old cars — and warns about the dangers posed by Project 2025.
"All right," said Walz, standing over the engine of the exposed bay of the vehicle. "This thing, old school carburetor. You can always tell something about somebody's maintenance when how clean their air filter is. Look, to be able to work on this thing, you've got a manual. It shows you exactly what to do to fix things on this."
"Donald Trump and J.D. Vance have a manual too," Walz continued, still bent over the open hood of the vehicle. "It's called Project 2025, and it's a way to stick it to the middle class while giving tax cuts to the wealthiest. Look, they didn't give me a manual for this if you didn't plan on using it to fix your truck. They didn't create that Project 2025 just to have it sit around as a doorstop."
"We know who these guys are. We know they got a playbook to rig the economy. Let's make sure it doesn't," he added. "And, you can always tell again, somebody, if they keep a clean air filter, they do good maintenance."

Project 2025 is a controversial plan laid out by the Heritage Foundation to transform the federal government into a unitary power for the president, including eliminating agency independence, turning the civil service into an ideological army, and eliminating or scaling back a wide range of public services and social programs.
As the project has become more broadly known and unpopular among voters, former President Donald Trump has denied any involvement, even though many of the advisers working on the project are alumni of his administration and Trump tried to implement some of their civil service changes on the way out the door.
