Ange admits player’s injury ‘doesn’t look good’ ahead of Brentford; duo could feature
Tottenham Hotspur are back in action tomorrow afternoon when they host Brentford in N17.
Tottenham host Brentford tomorrow afternoon in the Premier League
The North Londoners have a quick turnaround in fixtures following the 2-1 victory over Coventry City on Wednesday evening.
Spurs came within a whisker of suffering a surprise elimination in the Carabao Cup third round, with late goals from Djed Spence and Brennan Johnson rescuing the blushes of the Premier League outfit.
The match, however, did see Tottenham forced into changes with summer signing Wilson Odobert forced off after 15 minutes with a muscular injury, while Timo Werner was also replaced after the break with an issue.
Midfielder Yves Bissouma sat out the cup tie, the second match he has missed since returning from international duty with a niggle.
Ange Postecoglou has provided an injury update on his squad
This afternoon, Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou has been sitting down with the press and has provided an update on the status of his squad.
Speaking from the Hotspur Way training ground, he told the official Spurs site: “(In terms of) Wilson, it doesn’t look good. We’re still waiting for it to settle down to get all the information but he’ll definitely be out for the next period. It’s his hamstring.
“Bissouma trained today so he should be available for tomorrow. Timo was ok. He recovered ok.”
Tottenham need a win to kick-start their league campaign
Thomas Frank’s side head to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium having won two and lost two of their opening four Premier League fixtures this season, while Spurs are desperate to end a run of successive league defeats.
Disappointing losses against Newcastle United and Arsenal, coupled with points dropped at Leicester have seen Spurs pick up just four points and need to see off the Bees with a convincing result.
Tottenham once again looked short of ideas in the attacking third of the pitch against Coventry, which continues to be a cause for concern.
Striker Dominic Solanke needs better service if he is to finally get off the mark and bag his first goal for the club this weekend.
The injury to Odobert could likely see a front three of Heung-min Son, Solanke and Dejan Kulusevski, with the latter being arguably Spurs’ best player this season.
