A FIRST Dates star yanked her wig off during her date as she opened up on her heartbreaking health battle.
In scenes set to air during Friday night’s instalment of the hit Channel 4 show, viewers will be introduced to catalogue buyer Jo.
The 43-year-old suffers from Alopecia, with the condition leaving her bald, forcing her to wear a wig.
Jo told the show how she hadn’t been chatted up in years but was ready to be “feral but not too feral”.
She’s paired by bosses with pub landlord Sam, 36, and the pair hit it off, chatting about Facebook and the TV show Friends.
During the date, Jo cautiously told Sam: “I lost my hair five years ago Alopecia.
“It all fell out in like two weeks.”
As Sam enquired more, she continued: “I thought I was dying, first of all, and the doctor was like ‘no you’re not dying’ and they kind of go ‘bye off you go’.”
Jo added: “Because it’s not life-threatening you’re just sort of left to deal with it.”
The catalogue buyer then takes the extremely brave step of taking off her wig for Sam.
It remains to be seen what happens next, and if there’s a spark between the pair.
Speaking away from her date, Jo said how she feels ‘like a mole’ when her wig is off and she’s not wearing makeup.
She explained: “When I don’t have my hair on and when I don’t have any makeup on, I feel like moleish.
“That’s when the flashes of insecurity will still pop up. You’re naked to the point where everything’s erased, your features just disappear.”
First Dates airs tonight at 10pm on Channel 4 and online.
