GOP brags about candidate with controversial voting record on antisemitism
National Journal reporter James Downs posted a shocking release from the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC), which is responsible for getting Republicans elected to Congress.
In it, the NRCC brags about six young candidates it "recruited" to run, but two of them have a history of purported connections to antisemitism.
First on the NRCC list was the Maryland Republican Neil Parrott, who voted against a state bill that would ban putting a swastika, burning cross or other hate symbols on someone's lawn or land without their consent.
Jewish Insider wrote about it last month, saying that a small minority of just four lawmakers opposed the bill. Parrott was one of them.
"In 2014, Parrott also voted against a state budget bill that had included an amendment condemning antisemitism as 'an intolerable and ugly form of bigotry,' while denouncing academic boycotts of Israel. The amendment had been among the final additions to the budget bill before it was passed," the report also said.
Ohio Republican candidate Orlando Sonza is another on the list with a history of purported antisemitism. Last month, Raw Story reported Sonza's brag about getting an endorsement from a Holocaust denier.
Sonza's opponent, Rep. Greg Landsman (D-OH), is Jewish.
Former White House official April Delaney, is running against Parrott.
The NRCC championed the two men as part of their 2024 "Young Guns" program.
