MAFS UK bride Emma shares behind-the-scenes secret about honeymoon with Caspar after his cruel put down
MARRIED At First Sight bride Emma Barnes has revealed what her relationship with husband Caspar Todd was really like during their luxurious Jamaican honeymoon.
Viewers watched with mouths agape earlier this week as Caspar delivered a cruel putdown.
He bluntly told Emma he rarely goes for “curvier women” and didn’t find her sexy.
Speaking to the programme’s official podcast, which is hosted by Chloe Burrows, Emma admitted it was far from the love-in she’d dreamed of.
She said: “We were in this gorgeous honeymoon suite with three balconies and a sea view. He stayed one night. I just had a lot of time thinking ‘Jesus, I don’t think he likes me’.”
Emma added that he did at least teach her how to play backgammon on the first night after bringing his own board, before their argument.
Gardener Caspar, 34, also compared sales manager Emma, 31, to his sister, who he said he “hates”.
The newlyweds sat down for a frank chat following a full 24 hours of being married.
Emma told him she’d had a “fabulous” first day and then asked how he was feeling.
But a despondent Caspar told her: “I’ve been struggling, I don’t know if you’ve felt it. But I haven’t felt that spark I was hoping to feel.”
Trying to gain some clarity, Emma asked: “What started off those feelings?”
Caspar admitted that some of the things Emma did on their wedding day reminded him of his sister.
A confused Emma said: “What did I do?”
He explained: “Watching you and her laugh together, there’s an element and sort of mannerisms – I’m equating one with the other and it’s not good.”
Keen to get to know Caspar better, Emma then asked what his “usual type” is.
He then brutally put her down by saying: “I’ve rarely gone for the curvier person,” leaving his bride gobsmacked.
She replied: “Do you think I look sexy tonight?”
A panicked Caspar breathed heavily as Emma asked: “But you don’t think I’m sexy?”
Caspar replied: “No.”
Emma went on: “So you didn’t fancy me and you don’t fancy me, right?”
“Not currently no, lets be honest,” Caspar admitted.
Emma hit back and issued him some advice – saying he needs to work on his own outlook before judging women on their appearance.
She responded: “If you didn’t think I was sexy in my f***ing wedding dress and my gorgeous bikini today, I don’t know what hope there is.”
Clearly astonished by his comment, she put him in his place by saying: “But what we’re here to do is look beyond that and what you need to do is look beyond that because my personality, my confidence should help you be more confident and you should see qualities bigger than my clothes size.
“You need to work on your view of women.”
