Are Manchester United back in business?

Perhaps it’s a little premature to give an answer to that given they’ve only beaten Southampton and League One Barnsley in the Carabao Cup.

However, you can only beat what’s in front of you and Erik ten Hag’s side dispatched the pair in impressive style, scoring ten goals without conceding.

There’s also been some encouraging displays from the likes of Matthijs de Ligt, Amad Diallo, debutant Manuel Ugarte and Marcus Rashford, who’s now scored three in his last two matches.

The Red Devils have kept three clean sheets in their last five Premier League games, as many as they had in their previous 24 matches and boast the third highest xG total (expected goals) in the Premier League this season (7.9).

However, they’ll need to raise their game again to collect maximum points this weekend. United have won just two of their last 16 Premier League away games against London sides (D4 L10), with both of those victories coming against Fulham.

Crystal Palace also did the double over Manchester United in the Premier League last season, and that’s the first time they’ve ever beaten them in consecutive league matches.

But it’s not been the start that Eagles supporters had expected.

Oliver Glasner’s side were considered to be ‘dark horses’ entering the season, but they remain winless in their opining four matches – taking two points from a possible 12.

Surely it’s time that Bruno Fernandes got on the scoresheet in the Premier League, right? The Portuguese international, 30, has registered four assists but is yet to score in any competition this season in six appearances.

However, the Red Devils captain has had more shots without scoring than any other player in the Premier League so far this season (13). He’s also netted two in eight games against Crystal Palace.

Amad Diallo looks a great price at 5/1 to register an assist on Saturday.

The 22-year-old provided an assist against Southampton last weekend, and has created a total of 10 chances for his colleagues this season – double that of any United player.

He also had 23 touches in the opposition penalty area which, again, is seven more than any of his teammates. Only Bruno Fernandes can boast a higher xA (expected assists) with Diallo’s at 0.72.
