ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Happy Wednesday! Meteorologists Matt Mackie and Kevin Appleby say visibility is low due to fog this morning so drive carefully, but the temperatures will heat up to the low 80s and this Wednesday will be mostly cloudy.
The Vermont State Police have released the identities of the three victims in the Pawlet, Vermont homicide. Also, a tribute to Dr. Alice Green will be held at the Palace Theatre at the end of the month. These stories, and more, are in your five things to know this morning.
1. VSP identify three victims in Pawlet homicide
The victims were identified as Brian Crossman, Sr., 46, his wife, Erica Crossman, 41, and Erica’s son, Colin Taft, 13. An autopsy revealed Brian’s cause of death to be gunshot wounds to the head and torso, Erica’s cause of death was a gunshot wound to the head, and Colin’s cause of death was multiple gunshot wounds.
2. Tribute for Dr. Alice Green to be held at Palace Theatre
Community members will soon have the chance to honor Dr. Alice Green, the longtime social justice advocate who passed away in August. The Center for Law and Justice is hosting a tribute at 4 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 29 at the Palace Theatre in Albany.
3. Hearing discusses proposed National Grid rate hike
The proposed increase is about 15 percent for electricity and a 20 percent increase for gas. If approved by state regulators, the changes would take effect in April. The company said the average customer bill would go up by about $18.
4. Demolition of Nott Street Parking Garage underway
The demolition of the Nott Street Parking Garage is underway. Ellis Medicine said a 210-spot surface lot will be taking its place.
