Horror moment weightlifter is THROTTLED by 230lb barbell…& gymgoers can’t hear his gasping cries for help just feet away
THIS is the horrifying moment a weightlifter performing a bench press is throttled by a heavy barbell – leaving the desperate man gasping for air.
Shocking footage shows the 230lb barbell rod rolling down the man’s neck as he dropped it after getting tired in the middle of a set.
Choked by the heavyweights, the gymgoer can be seen frantically moving his legs in a bid to get the rod off his neck.
The other people in the gym do not immediately notice the horror situation and casually continue to perform their workouts.
But they realise something is seriously wrong when the weightlifter’s legs start twitching due to a lack of oxygen.
A man can be seen running over to lift the barbell rod off home while calling other people for help.
Another woman rushed to the spot and together with the man managed to save the weightlifter from a fatal tragedy.
He was then taken to hospital for further treatment after a member of staff came over and called the emergency services.
The horror accident took place in a gym in Taoyuan City, Taiwan.
Local people are now hitting out at the staff of the gym for not identifying the problem instantly.
In such incidents, the gym, as a service provider, is obligated to ensure its customers’ personal safety when using fitness facilities.
According to the Consumer Protection Law and other relevant laws and regulations, operators are responsible for the safety of the goods and services they provide.
Lack of proper supervision or warning signs and failure to provide necessary rescue equipment can drag such business to the court.
It comes after another gymgoer was thrown to her death after she fell off a treadmill that was going too fast.
The 22-year-old woman was thrown out of the open third-floor window in a busy gym in Indonesia.
Shocking footage shows the victim running on a treadmill before she stopped to wipe her face with a towel and quickly lost balance.
As the workout machine kept going fast, the young woman tripped backwards and tumbled out of the window that was left open.
The unnamed victim came to the gym with her boyfriend who was exercising on the second floor when the tragedy unfolded, local media reported.
Last year, a bodybuilder died after 460lb weight fell on his neck as he attempted to squat-press in Sanur, Bali.
After the accident, Justyn was rushed to a local hospital with a broken neck and critical compression of vital nerves connecting to his heart and lungs.
He died shortly after an emergency operation, despite the surgeons’ best efforts.
Another gym-goer was left paralysed and temporarily blinded when a weights machine appeared to break mid-set.
