Navy SEALs need to be pulled from military action to escort Trump: Tommy Tuberville
Following the second assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump in two months, Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-AL) told Fox Business that more drastic measures are needed.
Specifically, he argued to Larry Kudlow, Navy SEALs should be pulled away from their combat assignments to stand guard at Mar-a-Lago, where on Sunday a man armed with a high-powered rifle allegedly attempted an attack on the country club.
"They're trying to kill the only guy that has a chance to get this fixed," said Tuberville, not elaborating on who he means by "they." "Of course, President Biden, I don't know who's running our country, but somebody needs to step to the plate and at least act like you care about a Republican candidate. But they truly don't. They could care less."
"There, there needs to be SEAL teams, there needs to be military, I don't know what these people are thinking. And of course, Chuck Schumer and McConnell, all these people running around up here with all kinds of security in Washington, D.C. And the one man that we need to protect his life, is Donald Trump, and they refuse to do it."

Trump was in fact protected by an extensive security detail that prevented him the armed attacker from getting near a position to pose real danger to him, officials said.
However, in the previous assassination attempt, when Trump was grazed by a bullet from a gunman on a rooftop near a rally in Pennsylvania, the Secret Service was faulted for security failures, which led to the director resigning.
Tuberville, notably, spent much of the previous year antagonizing the military by blockading hundreds of appointments and promotions, in an attempt to strong-arm the Pentagon into rescinding a policy that allows medical leave for servicemembers to obtain abortions at their own expense, if their home state prohibits them.
