Report: Chelsea leading race to sign Brazilian star also admired by Spurs
CaughOffside reveal that Chelsea have moved into pole position to sign Monaco right-back Vanderson, who Tottenham also admire.
Spurs were linked with Vanderson
Vanderson stayed put at Monaco despite being linked with a move to Spurs during the summer window and CaughtOffsdie now allege that the Lilywhites continue to have their eye on the defender.
In addition, the report names Manchester United as admirers of the Brazilian international but it is claimed that as things stand, Chelsea have shown the most interest in the 23-year-old.
It is explained that the Blues are keen on strengthening at right-back due to Reece James’ injury woes and they have now set their sights on Vanderson.
Vanderson could leave Monaco in January
The outlet claims that the right-back’s future at Monaco is far from secure, with an exit in January or next summer very much on the cards.
The publication adds that the Ligue 1 club are expected to demand a fee of around €35m-€40m (£29.5-£33.7m) for the energetic and pacy full-back.
Tottenham sold a Brazilian right-back of their own this summer, with Emerson Royal swapping Spurs for the San Siro in a transfer to AC Milan.
Spurs Web Opinion
Tottenham are unlikely to enter the market for a right-back in January unless the club decide to cash in on Djed Spence.
A left-back to serve as Destiny Udogie’s backup is arguably a more pressing need, with Ben Davies not a natural fit for the inverted full-back role.
