Aldi shoppers rushing to buy middle aisle baby essential scanning for just 99p
ALDI shoppers can’t get enough of a middle aisle baby product scanning for just 99p.
The German discounter has slashed the price of one of its baby change mats from £2.99.
One shopper spotted the discounted deal in their local branch, posting a photo of the steal on the Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK Facebook page.
The post has notched up dozens of likes and comments from parents looking to grab the baby essential.
One said: “Need to go get one at this price.”
A second joked: “I’m getting dressed lol.”
Meanwhile, a third simply said: “I need.”
Bear in mind, you might not find the baby changing mat in your local Aldi branch as middle aisle stock is limited and once it’s gone it’s gone.
That means it might have already sold out in your local branch, or Aldi might not have stocked it in the first place.
If you’re planning a trip to do your weekly shop, it might be worth a quick look in the middle aisle for one though.
You can find your nearest Aldi store by using the retailer’s store locator tool on its website.
Also remember, a deal is only a deal if you were going to buy it in the first place and don’t buy a product just because it is discounted.
Plus, make sure you shop around to ensure you are getting the best price.
You can use websites like Trolley and Price Spy which compare prices on thousands of items across online retailers.
Meanwhile, the Google Shopping/Product tab lets you scan the internet to see how much different online retailers are selling a particular item for.
In this instance, we couldn’t find any other retailers selling a baby changing mat for less than 99p though.
Boots is selling one for £7.99 without factoring in the £3.95 standard delivery charge.
Meanwhile, John Lewis is selling one for £8 with a £4.50 charge for delivery.
Aldi on the up
Aldi says it wants to open hundreds more branches across the UK as it aims towards operating 1,500 stores in retail parks and on the high street.
It has already revealed a number of potential locations it wants to open stores.
In May, it said it was keen to open stores in Aldershot, Newark, Witney and Wellingborough.
In June, it revealed a further list of 27 areas it wants to build new stores, including Redhill, Dorchester and Bath.
It’s worth bearing in mind, the locations it has said it wants to open branches is not final, but more where it intends to open up shop.
This week, Aldi said it plans on investing £800million into Britain this year following record sales in the 12 months to December 31, 2023.
The retail chain said it has already created thousands of jobs since January and is due to open 23 new stores before the year closes.
Giles Hurley, chief executive officer for Aldi UK and Ireland, said British shoppers were “voting with their feet” and choosing Aldi as their “first-choice supermarket”.
He added: “For every £1 of profit generated last year, we’re investing £2 this year – opening more stores and building the supply infrastructure to bring high-quality, affordable groceries to millions more families the length and breadth of Britain.”

When buying online, always do a search for money off codes or vouchers that you can use vouchercodes.co.uk and myvouchercodes.co.uk are just two sites that round up promotions by retailer.
Scanner apps are useful to have on your phone. Trolley.co.uk app has a scanner that you can use to compare prices on branded items when out shopping.
Bargain hunters can also use B&M’s scanner in the app to find discounts in-store before staff have marked them out.
And always check if you can get cashback before paying which in effect means you’ll get some of your money back or a discount on the item.
