'Good decision': Republican shares why Trump is 'smart' to dodge another debate
A longtime Republican fundraiser believes former President Donald Trump made a sound decision by ducking a second debate with Vice President Kamala Harris.
As Fox News host Neil Cavuto and Trump found themselves in a public spat Thursday — over Cavuto's comments that the ex-president bombed at the Tuesday night debate — Cavuto asked a Democratic pollster and Republican fundraiser about the possibility of another debate.
"From a political standpoint," Cavuto began, speaking to the Republican, "Is it better in their mind that Donald Trump not debate again? That performance with Kamala Harris was such that it might not be such a good idea."
Republican strategist and fundraiser Noelle Nikpour agreed that the donor class in the party doesn't want to see Trump go anywhere near another debate stage.

"What I will tell you is I think it's smart for Donald Trump not to do the debate. I think it was a good decision with the campaign, and I'll tell you why," Nikpour continued. "Depending on when that debate would be scheduled, if he has another repeat performance like he did, I don't know if the campaign can recover that quickly. I don't think they have enough time to recover from that."
She noted there are 54 days until the election and the negotiations and setup would likely mean it would be closer to the election.
"You've got to have ads ready. You've got to be ready to respond," explained Nikpour.
