Well, Donald Trump has just shown how he consistently lies and fabricates facts. He never answered a direct question and went off on tangents that never addressed the questions that were asked.

On climate, not once did his reply mention the word "climate." He discussed pet-eating and "Abdul," the Taliban leader.

Not once did he have a policy when asked to address important issues such as health care and taxes.

I hope we can see a fact-finding report on all of the lies and misinformation from a confused and contradictory excuse for an American, let alone a presidential candidate. America, please put a woman in charge.

It wasn’t a debate. It was a bullfight. Trump was the bull, and Kamala masterfully and gracefully used her cape.

Too many falsehoods

I was switching back and forth between the debate and the White Sox game. Maybe it was unfortunate timing on my part, but every time I went to the debate, Trump was telling a new falsehood. One doesn't get to claim victory in a debate by telling falsehoods.

Once again, Trump showed what a disrespectful, arrogant narcissist he is. During the entire debate, he never called Kamala Harris by her name, nor did he call her "vice president," or "my opponent," or "candidate." He addressed Harris as "she" and "her." Show some respect. Say her name.

Trump needs to square up with Constitution

I found it interesting that no pre- or post-debate commentator mentioned the venue of the presidential debate. Yes, they said it was in the all-important largest swing state of Pennsylvania and its largest city of Philadelphia. But the fact that it was held in the National Constitution Center was quite ironic.

This is a museum and educational center that explains our plan of government and the rights of the people. It has exhibits on the separation of powers and the limited powers of government. It explains a document so important that all elected officials take an oath to abide by it.

Trump, as president, abrogated that oath numerous times. He should have been required before he entered the race to go through the museum's hallowed halls and pass a test on its contents. From inciting a riot (Section 3 of the 14th Amendment) to threatening the certification process (12th Amendment) to negating the rights of pregnant women to make life-saving health care decisions (Ninth Amendment), this man has stomped all over this precious document. This list is too long for one letter.

Trump wins debate

I watched and even recorded the Trump-Harris debate and am stunned by people proclaiming Harris the winner. I don’t think they saw or even listened to it. Harris never gave a single direct answer and apparently she didn’t hear a single thing Trump said.

Harris was relaxed while Trump was serious and calculating, and he totally negated everything she said. Harris is plagiarizing from the Trump agenda, and nobody is believing her claims. Suddenly, she is a flip-flopper and against everything she advocated for over the years. Shameless lying about her past positions is going to cost her voters. Trump won on abortion because he returned the power to the people.

Trump failed as businessman

I cannot understand why polls show Trump leading Harris on the economy.

Trump’s plan to round up and deport immigrants — millions — would cost billions of dollars for the American taxpayer and deprive us of a great number of workers who are taxpayers.

And now recently, he promised to pay for child care with tariffs. What kind of businessman does that?

Maybe one who inherited his wealth, stiffs his contractors, and time and again has proven himself incompetent through a string of his own bankruptcies.

Remember his promise that Mexico would pay for the wall? How laughable was that?

Party-first Republicans

Recently, I heard Donald Trump say in a speech that if the Democrats have power, gender reassignment surgery will be done on children when they go to school. They will go to school as one gender and return home that very day as another.

I had to stop and ask myself, who in the name of all that is good is still willing to vote for this man to be the leader of our great country?

Then I had a light bulb moment. The Republicans of today are not the Republicans of yesteryear, the ones I grew up with in my very own family. My father's Republicans wanted what was best for the country. Today's Republicans are party first, not country first.
