The horses and man behind Hollywood's Secretariat

Rusty Hendrickson, veteran horse wrangler who also worked on such movies as "Seabiscuit," "The Horse Whisperer," "Flicka" and "Dances With Wolves," took time out to answer a few questions via e-mail about the star (or in this case stars) of the movie.
Trolley Boy was the winner the previous year and got in touch with them for the filming of "Secretariat."
An energetic horse would be great for a racing scene and a calm horse with a lot of patience would be great for close-up shots.
Do the horses really have this striking resemblance to Secretariat or was it an excellent makeup job?

Trolley Boy was a race horse but he had a training injury when he was 2 years old and broke his tendon.
Longshot Max had raced at Remington Park, which is one of the featured racetracks in Oklahoma, but was not conditioned to race.
