Police probe bomb threat made to theatre where Amanda Abbington was performing after sicko told her to ‘die on stage’
POLICE are investigating a bomb threat to the theatre where Amanda Abbington was performing in a play.
The chilling threat came just weeks after another one was emailed which said Amanda was going to “die on stage.”
A source said last night: “It’s feared the person behind this could be a twisted fan who is targeting Amanda because she made a complaint to the BBC against Giovanni.
“The police were alerted and are taking it very seriously.”
The threats were made while the actress performed in the play When It Happens To You at London’s Park Theatre.
The first email was received in early August, and the police immediately launched an investigation after Amanda reported it, as revealed by The Sun on Sunday.
Then – two weeks ago – another email was sent, this time warning the theatre would be bombed due to its links with Amanda.
It’s believed the threats were sent by the same person and cops are understood to be close to tracing the computer it was sent from.
Despite the bomb threat, Amanda continued to perform in the play – which ended it runs last week.
Confirming they had reported the bomb attack to the Met Police, Jez Bond, the artistic director of the Park Theatre, said: “We contacted police after a second threat was made and we are continuing to assist the police in this investigation.
“The sender, whilst appearing to create a false account, did not appear to disguise their IP address so we are hopeful that the police will be able to track them down.
“The safety and welfare of our actors, staff and all visitors to the Park Theatre is our number one priority.”
A pal close to Amanda said: “Amanda was really shaken up by it but she was determined to finish the play and not let it stop her.
“She’s had to put up with so many threats and abuse since complaining about her time on Strictly.
“But the specific nature of these threats meant she was very keen to co-operate with the police and try to ensure the person behind it is caught.”
