Man, 33, found dead in garden after ‘dog attack’ as cops hunt two American Bulldogs
A 33-YEAR-OLD man has been found dead in a garden after an alleged dog attack – as cops hunt two American Bulldogs.
Officers were called to reports of dogs on the loose on a residential street in Birmingham in the early hours yesterday.
A man aged 33 was found dead in the back garden of a property where the animals are believed to have come from.
Cops believe the man had been attacked by at least one dog, which may have contributed to his death.
Two dogs were seized at the scene, but cops are now looking for two other dogs which are thought to have been at the same address.
The two missing dogs are both believed to be American Bulldog-types.
Cops have released a snap of one of the dogs – saying that the other one is similar but black.
They are carrying out house-to-house enquiries, reviewing CCTV, and using specialist dog officers and a drone to find the dogs.
None of the dogs involved is believed to be a banned breed, West Midlands Police said.
Supt Sally Simpson said: “This is a really tragic incident, and the family of the man are being supported by officers.”
The Birmingham cop added: “The investigation into his death is continuing.
“Our priority right now is finding the other dogs that we believe may have been involved.”
Dog Unit cop Insp Leanne Chapman said: “We have officers liaising with vets and the local authority.
“We are using our drone capability to scour the wider area. We really need to hear from anyone who has seen these dogs.
“It’s vital that if you see them, you don’t approach them but call 999 immediately.
“Similarly, if you or someone you know has taken the dogs in after finding them loose, we need you to call us as soon as possible.”
Anyone with information has been asked to call 999, quoting log 1149 of today.
