Police seize over 8 pounds of meth in Troy drug bust
TROY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- The Troy Police Department reported the arrest of Terrence Ravenell, 28, of Troy, following an operation on Lincoln Avenue on August 20. Ravenell is facing multiple felony drug and weapon charges.
On Tuesday night, Troy Police responded to Lincoln Avenue upon receiving reports of suspicious activity in the vicinity. After surveilling the area, officers approached a car parked near Seward Street occupied by a man who was later identified as Ravenell.
While speaking with Ravenell, officers reportedly located illegal drugs in the car. According to police, Ravenell fled the scene on foot into a nearby wooded area. He was captured and arrested after a brief pursuit.
Further investigation resulted in the recovery of over eight pounds of crystal and pill-form meth, a loaded handgun, a quantity of marijuana, digital scales, packaging materials, and $6,486 in cash. Ravenell now faces the following charges:
- First-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance
- Third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance
- Second-degree criminal possession of a weapon
Ravenell was held for arraignment at the Troy City Court on Wednesday. The investigation remains ongoing.
