State-wide summit on domestic violence at FMCC
GLOVERSVILLE, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- The Family Counseling Center of Fulton County's domestic violence program will host a state-wide summit on the Intersection of Domestic Violence, Mental Health, and Substance Use on August 21. The day-long conference will consist of mental health providers and domestic violence professionals with community members, local law enforcement, and others focusing on the safety of others and creating relationships free from abuse.
The event, which will take place at Fulton Montgomery Community College, will cost $25 per ticket and are available online. Survivors of domestic violence and certified clinical trauma professionals will speak at the event.
“We are excited to welcome domestic violence professionals from across New York State, along with community members, and local partners to our first Domestic Violence Summit,” said Amanda Anderson, Director of The Domestic Violence Program of Fulton County. “Domestic violence has many root causes but again and again we can see the intersection of domestic violence, substance use, and mental health. The Summit is meant to highlight these overlapping issues, provide insight on them, and give skills and understanding for us to move forward in our work.”
