Lauren Savage, from Southampton, explains that whilst these rules work for her, they don’t work for everyone.
Despite the pair sleeping in the same bed, they have separate duvets since they used to fight over the quilt in the night and would lose sleep.
The 24-year-old also explains that they still cuddle before they sleep but not when they catch the z’s.
She said: “[Having separate duvets] is just a solution to an ongoing problem that we have we both cacoon ourselves – I love to be wrapped up, he loves to be wrapped up, especially in the winter.”
Lauren and Somto also don’t talk to each other when they’re away from each other. If one of them spends the night or weekend away contact is kept to a minimum.
The content creator explains this is because they would talk for the sake of talking and not actually enjoy their time apart.
“This is just the way that we respect each other’s me time,” she says.
“I’m not just gonna be texting him all day, everyday for no reason.”
They also don’t tend to show public displays of affection (PDA) like kissing, hugging, or holding hands. However, she adds that in private they’re equally as affectionate as others but they don’t feel comfortable doing it in public or in front of others.
She says: “There’s no specific reason why we don’t do that when we’re in front of people, it’s just the type of people we are.
“It’s not like never, sometimes we might have a moment where we hold hands or where we might kiss in front of my family, like a little peck or something.
“[But] it’s hardly ever.”
Lauren uploaded the video onto her TikTok page where it gained over 35,000 likes and had hundreds of comments.
One person said: “As someone with mega separation anxiety from my partner of five years, I wish I could do the no texting thing.”
A second wrote: “Love texting my man when we’re apart [rolling on the floor laughing emoji]. We do have a kid though so that may be why.”
Someone else wrote: “Are you trying to convince us or yourself? [laughing face emoji].”
However, others said they agreed with the rules and thought they were “healthy.”
One person commented: “My bf and I have a double duvet and a huge blanket that lays on top when I make the bed.
“But when we sleep one of us sleeps with the duvet and the other the blanket, because I refuse to use single duvets.”
Another said: “Sounds healthy and non co-dependant.”
A third penned: “Amen to not talking when not together [clapping hands emoji].”
