Maps and charts show who has won the General Election in your area

The results from the UK General Election are in, and it proved to be a landslide victory for the Labour Party.

It was suspected from the moment the exit poll came out that Labour and Sir Keir Starmer were on course to win on a dramatic night that has devastated Conservative Party. But history was made with historic losses from the incumbent cabinet, with many top Tories losing their seats.

As the final results come in, keep up with latest breaking news – and how Team Metro is coping with their all-nighter – in our election live blog.

If you also love to follow the hard data and get a sense of the bigger picture of how the country voted, then this is the page for you as we keep you updated throughout the night.

Below you will find a series of maps and charts that will update through the night as the results come in for all 650 constituencies around the country.

Race to power: Number of seats won by each party

The race to power is already underway and this graph shows that Labour need 326 seats to win an overall majority.

So far they have won seats across the country, and the exit poll published at 10pm suggests the party are on track to win 410 seats.

We will also keep you updated as to how each of the political parties are performing.

Labour has achieved massive landslide

Labour are on course to win 410 seats, eight fewer than Tony Blair won in 1997 and have already been declared the winners of this general election.

This stops short of a ‘supermajority’ that many MRP opinion polls were predicting and Rishi Sunak feared would happen.

Starmer thanked those who went out of their way to voting booths to vote for Labour.

The deputy leader of the Labour Party Angela Rayner believes her party are experienced a landslide because of people’s frustration about the Tory party.

She said: ‘Keir has done a tremendous job in transforming the Labour Party and putting forward a programme for government that the country can get behind and after 14 years of the chaos and the scandals and the decline we have seen under Tories I think they are getting punished for that – that’s pretty clear in the polls as well.’

Share of popular vote

The exit poll has proved to be interesting in many senses and Labour are currently way ahead with their share of the popular vote just over this halfway point.

The big surprise is that Reform UK is trailing quite high and have beaten the Tories in many different constituencies.

Meanwhile both the Lib Dems and Greens are doing well on 11% and 7% respectively, but this does not equate to seat numbers won because the Lib Dems are projected to win 61 and the Greens two.

Reform UK do unexpectedly well from exit poll

Reform UK were expected to win 13 seats – way above the two or three opinion polls were projecting them to win.

But after all the drama they are now more likely to win four seats.

The party’s leader Nigel Farage has finally become an MP and won the Clacton constituency.

Reform was formed in 2018 and the party only currently has one MP – Lee Anderson for the Ashfield constituency.

This election is the first time the party have secured MPs at the ballot box after Anderson defected from the Tories to Reform.

But as the results start to trickle in, Reform has not done as well as the exit poll suggests.

Swing of popular vote

As the night goes on, Labour, the Greens and Lib Dems are all expected to increase their vote share.

Reform UK are not included in this graph because the party existed as the Brexit Party 2019 General Election.

The swing of the popular vote shows the Tories are way down in comparison to the 2019 General Election result already.

Change in share of vote

The change in vote share is also quite remarkable for the two main parties – an increase for Labour and a dramatic decrease for the Tories.

Smaller parties like the Greens seem to have slightly increased their share of the vote, but stay tuned for the full results as they come in tonight.

Tories face biggest electoral defeat in history

If the exit poll is anything to go by the Tories are facing the biggest electoral wipeout in British political history.

When the party was led by Boris Johnson in the 2019 General Election it won 365 seats, but the exit poll suggests the party will only win 131 seats.

While Chancellor Jeremy Hunt managed to cling on to his seat others who have lost their seats include the commons leader Penny Mordaunt, defence secretary Grant Shapps, and justice secretary Alex Chalk.

While Rishi Sunak is expected to resign this morning, his Richmond and Northallerton seat remained safe.

Change in number of seats

This is the crucial graph, the change in the number of seats since 2019 and Labour are expected to make significant gains.

Labour are predicted to win 410 seats and are set to have a significant majority in the House of Commons.

The Tories are expected to only win 131 seats, but all will be revealed when all the constituency results are announced.

Resurgence for the Lib Dems

The exit poll suggests the Lib Dems are also on course for a major victory – projected to win 61 seats, four more seats than Nick Clegg won in the party’s glory days of 2010.

The Lib Dems are expected to make significant gains in the Tories ‘Blue Wall’, particularly in the south west and home counties.

‘Blue Wall’ seats are seats that have traditionally been held by the Tories, and have a population who voted Remain in the Brexit referendum and have a high proportion of university graduates.

Top of the wish list is Jeremy Hunt’s Godalming and Ash constituency – a seat the party is expected to win from the exit poll.

They have already made big gains across various areas.
