‘Why the hell is she dressed like that?’ people scream at mum over one-year-old’s backless miniskirt Disney outfit
A MUM has sparked fury after sharing a video of her one-year-old’s totally backless outfit at Disneyland.
Mother Christina Wait, from Florida, the US, was brutally slammed on Instagram where she proudly shared the tiny costume she’d given her baby daughter.
The now-viral outfit, which has been widely criticised, included Converse-style trainers paired with knee-length socks, as well as a Disney-themed backless tulle dress.
Christina, who admitted that she had put together the look herself ”from head to toe”, completed the tot’s outfit with a pearl necklace, as well as a Minnie Mouse headband with the iconic bows.
”Welcome to your life, my love,” the parent wrote in the caption of the clip.
The baby daughter, who was just one at the time of filming in 2021, could be seen playing with the long necklace, as fellow Disneyland enthusiasts were walking by.
The video, which has been viewed a staggering 1.7million views, also shared how the girl, now a little older, looked in 2024 during another visit at the popular tourist hotspot.
Bigger and taller, the girl – who’s spent more than 100 days at Disneyland – was wearing a white vest, a ballerina-style skirt in red, as well as adorable frilled socks.

But despite the cute transformation clip, furious viewers all slammed Christina for how she had dressed her then-baby daughter.
Thousands flocked to comments in sheer horror and shock, where they condemned the mother.
”Girl dress ur child properly tf [the f**k],” read the most popular comment that’s been liked by close to 16k people online.
Someone else was just as gobsmacked by the outfit choice, writing: ”First of all, why aren’t you putting an undershirt on your child and second of all a child should not be wearing anything like that.”
A third remarked: ”How the heck is her outfit from her 4th birthday a little more modest than her 1st?”
”ABSOLUTELY NOT,” another couldn’t believe what they’d just seen.
”Nice work blasting your daughter on insta for all the creepers. Great mum,” a social media user slated the mother.
Christina, who regularly shares fashion-related content on her page, hasn’t responded to the criticism – however, this is not the only thing the mum’s gone viral for.
Recently, Christina – whose daughter is named Everleigh – was also trolled over the ”crazy” spelling of the moniker.
How to keep your kids safe in warm weather
Hot weather is fabulous, a wonderful trip to the beach or enjoying time in the garden! However, when temperatures skyrocket it can become dangerous. Save The Children have compiled 10 heat safety tips for keeping children safe in a heatwave.
1. Light clothing, heavy suncream
Choose lightweight, light-coloured, and breathable fabrics (such as cotton), and use lots of suncream to protect you and your child from the heat and potential sunburn.
2. Drink lots of fluids
Remember to drink plenty of liquids, regardless of your activity level. Check your baby’s nappy for concentrated (dark in color) urine, which can indicate dehydration.
3. Get lots of rest
Try and limit activities. Make sure that children get lots of rest when they are active. NHS advises to “try to keep out of the sun between 11am to 3pm”.
4. Keep children entertained
Children may become anxious or restless from being kept indoors. Plan for indoor activities and games.
5. Reassure children
Children may be stressed by the heat. Remember that children take their cues from their parents and caregivers, so try to keep calm and answer their questions openly and honestly. Also stick to regular bath and sleep times for your child.
6. House safety/cooling tips
During the day, keep rooms cool by closing blinds/curtains, especially in rooms facing the sun. Using a fan to circulate air in the room is beneficial.Review your child’s school sun policy.
7. Never leave children unsupervised in parked cars
Even in less threatening temperatures, vehicles can rapidly heat up to dangerous temperatures. A child left inside a car is at risk of severe heat-related illness or death, even if the windows are cracked open.
8. Stay informed
Listen to local news and weather channels for health, safety and weather-related updates.
9. Know how to identify heat-related illnesses
Look for signs of heat-related illnesses/conditions such as heat stroke, exhaustion, cramps, and severe sunburn. If children show these symptoms, seek medical assistance. Refer to the NHS website for a complete list, and how to remedy them.
10. Read the NHS guidance for babies
The NHS advises giving your baby a cool bath before bedtime and keeping nightwear to a minimum. Your baby will sleep most comfortably at room temperature between 16C and 20C, a nursery thermometer will help you monitor the temperature of the baby’s room.
Hitting back at the haters, Christina jokingly said she’d be ”running to change the spelling” of the name ”because milk dotzz [Instagram user] said it’s crazy”.
The mum, who said the choice was ”original”, urged people to be kinder to one another.
”Let’s stop making fun of people.”
